📌Why perform?
👍🏻Great and Simple Power Exercise.
👍🏻Once you've learned to land correctly and absorb force (yes this is important) this is a great variation to start jumping/Plyometrics with as the box brings your landing height up reducing the overall landing forces.
👍🏻Can be a fantastic neurological primer exercise for a session including Squats.
.
📌Key Coaching Cues:
➡️Stand with feet hip width apart. Raise your arms up so that you can use them more effectively during the jump for force production.
➡️Perform a short dip by bending the knees and hinging at the hips slightly whilst powerfully swinging your arms down.
➡️Jump up off the floor whilst powerfully swinging your arms up
➡️Land as softly as possible with feet flat on the box, knees and hips bent similar to a quarter squat position to absorb force on your landing.
➡️STEP DOWN BETWEEN REPS DON'T JUMP DOWN

✔3-5 sets of 3-5 reps.

That time we were all snowed  in & I converted by basement to a gym. To get my workout in!

How to structure your Hiit Intervals.
.
The body has 3 Key Energy Systems:
💥Anaerobic Alactic (Phosphagen).
💥Anaerobic Lactic (Glycolytic).
💥Aerobic (Oxidative)
.
👉🏻Aerobic: requires free oxygen
👉🏻Anaerobic: absent of free oxygen
.
All 3 of these energy systems work at any given time, they don't work in isolation. The proportion of energy distribution between the 3 for a required activity is dictated by the effort and duration of the work required.
.
The activities that are higher in effort and shorter in duration will be performed predominantly by the 2 anaerobic pathways and those activities that are longer in duration and more low to moderate in effort will be predominantly performed through the aerobic pathway.
.
The majority of HiiT general gym users perform typically focuses on anaerobic lactic, not because the adaptations are sort after, but because these intervals "hurt" more.
.
While training this system can be useful and I'm a believer in training all 3 pathways more focus should really be placed on the Aerobic system as this builds the base that the other 2 pathways can be built more effectively on.
.
Another big takeaway here is the work to rest ratios. In a quest for sweatiness and tiredness appropriate rest periods are forgotten about which actually changes the energy demand and can change what you think you're training causing a different adaptation to occur.
.
When it comes to HiiT your power output during the work period is what is important. If you don't rest enough your ability to achieve this will decrease significantly meaning you're not achieving the most possible out of your work.
.
Like all of your Training your HiiT shouldn't be random. What you do creates a specific adaptation to the body so the big question you need to ask yourself is "what am I trying to achieve through doing this HiiT approach?"
