😱😱😱 These are MY clients lashes! That’s right, I did these and this is my work! At first glance, you might think there has been crazy amounts of glue used and I’ve done a terrible job - but that’s not true!
My client came in for her infill today and we had to spend a solid 15 minutes (of her 1 hour slot) cleaning the lashes. The build up of black stuff at the base of the extensions is eye makeup. My client said she didn’t want to wash them as she was worried they’d come out, this is absolutely not the case! The cleaner your lashes are, the better your retention will be as there is no oily substances sitting in the bond area breaking down the adhesive. These lashes hadn’t been cleaned for three weeks 🙈😱 If I were to not clean them before filling, I’d be sticking the extensions to the old eye makeup and not the natural lash itself. This would act as a barrier and then the extensions would fall off prematurely.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time I’ve come across this and certainly won’t be the last. If you notice I spend 10-15mins at the start of your appointment cleansing and rinsing - it’s because there is something on your lashes that there shouldn’t be. Even if you don’t wear makeup you still need to wash them daily as a build up of dead skin cells and eye gunk is never a pleasant experience for anyone. A water based foam cleanser is your best bet.
Please, please, please wash your lashes before your appointment. You will get longer lashing time and better retention, win win all round!
