Sleeping is something Koala do very well. So well in fact, that it’s what they do for the vast majority of every day! Not because they are lazy but their diet of eucalyptus leaves requires a vast amount of energy to digest. It’s best to be inactive when you’re digesting a plant that has evolved to stop predators eating its leaves. .
However, make no mistake when koala are awake and especially when competing for a mate, they can be fast, very very aggressive, and deafeningly vocal! .
