Pt.4 If the FDA themselves feared that one product alone was that toxic to humans that it is to be recalled from our shelves, the FDA THEMSELVES CANNOT recall that product from our shelves under current law.
Even though there is Arsenic in @olaplex , under current law they are not only nil and void from providing us with exactly what arsenic is their product, they also do not have to notify the FDA that there is arsenic in their product, causing it to be unavoidably toxic to human health even in tiny exposures.
If you want to know more and you have Netflix at home, set some time aside to watch STINK! It is by far the most informative documentary I’ve ever seen!
And remember, Salon isn’t always Best!
I would love to hear from you Olaplex and I’d love to know why you have included all of these cancer causing, irritants and known silicones in your products!
Sincerely - one REALLY peeved Hairdresser.

Pt.3 * • Polysilicone-15 - another silicone in their product. * • PEG-45M - Toxic and harmful to humans in tiny exposures, currently a medium health priority and poses organ toxicity. * • Laureth-9 - The number in the name indicates the average number of units of ethylene oxide in the molecule. In cosmetics and personal care products, the Laureth ingredients are used in the formulation of a variety of bath, eye, facial, hair, cleansing and sunscreen products. They are also used in cuticle softeners, deodorants and moisturizing products. Ethylene oxide which is found as a Derivative in pretty much every ingredient in this entire list, is known as deadly to humans, is known to have caused cancer, is a respiratory toxicant, and developmental toxicant. * • Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-T-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate - is an environmental toxin and is bioaccumulative (meaning it builds up in our eco system) * • PEG-4 - can cause systemic toxicity and contact dermatitis in people with damaged skin. * • Phenoxyethanol - The preservative phenoxyethanol, which is a known irritant for skin, eyes and lungs. In the US, the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has warned that phenoxyethanol can cause shut down of the central nervous system, vomiting and contact dermatitis. There are several animal studies that demonstrate that it is toxic – with effects on the brain and the nervous system – at moderate concentrations. In Japan, there is a concentration limit for its use in cosmetics. The European Union classifies it as an irritant and there are various studies (on rabbit skin, for example) that demonstrate reactions at extremely low doses.
I applaud you if you managed to get through all of that! It took me a mighty long time to put together all of this information using only credible sources and the FDA for facts & information.
Unfortunately product manufacturers, unlike food manufacturers do not have to go through “product testing” - “product safety” and they have no “pre market approval requirement” they also do NOT have to disclose the harmful ingredients and chemicals in their products.

Pt.2 I know I’m going to cause some uproar here, but I think @olaplex needs to give us some answers... Here are Olaplex’s MAIN ingredients. * • Cetearyl Alcohol - Alcohol harms your skin’s protective surface, depletes vital substances needed for healthy skin, and makes oily skin and hair worse. Cetearyl Alcohol prematurely ages skin. Alcohol actually increases oiliness, so the immediate de-greasing effect is eventually counteracted, prompting your oily hair to look even more oily. * • PPG-3 - absorbed through the skin and excreted into urine * • Cetyl Alcohol - whale oil. Yup you read right, Olaplex won’t test on animals, but they’ll happily use them in their product... * • Quaternium-91 - poses Developmental and Reproductive Toxicity Risks, known to cause asthma in previously non asthmatic individuals and is a widely used preservative. * • Cetrimonium Chloride - a topical antiseptic and surfactant, it is a quaternary ammonium compound used as a preservative. It is a known skin toxicant & allergen. * • Dimethicone Copolymer - it is one of the WORST silicones in our hair products! No surprise, as the covering and trapping property of dimethicone means that it's not just trapping skin oils, sebum, and other impurities, it’s actually trapping Bacteria in your hair and skin. That means those prone to acne or with oily skin or hair are more likely to see increased blackheads, breakouts and oily hair when using products containing this ingredient. * • Behentrimonium Chloride - is a toxic compound, and concentrations of .1% and higher have been shown to damage the eyes by causing tissue death of the mucous membranes. It’s also highly flammable, and irritating to the skin * • Dimethicone PEG-7 Isostearate - silicone and known human carcinogen Ethylene oxide can also harm the nervous system and the California Environmental Protection Agency has classified it as a developmental toxicant based on evidence that it interferes with human development. * • Quaternium-95 - UV absorber, prematurely aging skin and limiting the life of your colour. * Propanediol - classified as a skin irritant. * • PEG-8 - poses organ toxicity and

Pt.1 Ok. I’m lifting the lid on @olaplex.
I’m having more and more new clients emerge to me telling me they’re using this product and that it hasn’t given them the best results with their hair or that their previous salon told them to suddenly change from the line they were happy using before.
Either way I think it’s about time I sent some knowledge out about “Olaplex”. Before I begin though I want to familiarise you all with a few important things... 1. A quote from Olaplex’s website claiming that there are NO sulfates or parabens in their products. “Paraben-Free - Sulfate-Free - Phthalate-Free”
2. “Paraben” Parabens are a class of widely used preservatives in cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. Chemically, they are a series of parahydroxybenzoates or esters of parahydroxybenzoic acid. Parabens are effective preservatives in many types of formulas. Parabens are the leading cause of cancer in products and Olaplex have SEVERAL different ‘parabens’ in their products, you just need to know what to look for!
3. SLS (sulfate) found in Olaplex and 95% of Supermarket Shampoo’s on the market. SLS and all of its derivatives are used in floor cleaners, engine cleaners and most surfactants. SLS is the leading cause of hair-loss in the world.
