Performing this with correct form and tempo will create a strong engagement through the glutes and hamstring as well as the abdominals.

Setup with the shoulders and hips squared to the carriage.
Press actively through the elbows to stay active through the back and draw the abdominals towards the spine.

🔥 Eating carbs before bed in and of itself does not cause fat gain. The accumulation of body fat over time can only occur if a consistent positive energy balance (a.k.a. caloric surplus) is maintained.

🔥 Now, if you struggle with controlling carb intake at night, then it may be a good idea to limit carb consumption. But if you have control over your food intake, eating carbs before bed is not inherently bad.

In fact, there's research indicating a high-carb meal a few hours before bed can significantly improve sleep quality. So if you struggle with falling asleep, moving some of the carbs you normally consume during the day to the evening is worth a try.

Aerobic base training 💨

It might not be the in-vogue term in fitness right now, but aerobic capacity is the most important predictor of longevity / mortality.

Aerobic capacity work has many benefits:
✅ ⬆️ O2 transport to the muscles
✅ ⬆️ work capacity (ability to work harder for longer)
✅ reduces rate of lactate formation and increases rate of lactate removal
✅ ⬆️ energy utilisation (efficiency)

Aerobic work can be many things, it can be slow and steady continuous movement for >30 minutes. OR it can be interval style training with a work ratio ATLEAST equivalent to the rest ratio (ideally upwards of 2:1)

As I’m made of crumbly chocolate I’ve sprained my ankle and so off the running for a while - my aerobic session of choice today was minimal joint impact:

After facing a week of frustrations, 2 major incidents within 1 mile of my Jamaica HQ NYPD involved shooting resulted in a veteran detective who lost his life in friendly fire last Tuesday. Thursday: A person was struck fatally by a car who by the way the pedestrian is at fault for walking against the light when was struck. The driver had no chance to stop in time. 
This is why I do not like running on Hillside Avenue for one of many reasons. People don't look besides drivers and pedestrians. Look BOTH ways even though the driver hit the person consider the consquences. I personally think it should be 50-50 or no monetary judgement should the victim's family sue the driver. 
Despite my workouts last week with @readysetmonique and Amanda K yoga and my quick run on last Monday. I could not shake it off the demons and Sunday night made things worse when I learned a family friend I knew from high school died from a Hemorrhagic stroke. 
This week was going to be busy anyways now going to get more complicated since my work schedule is going to get turned upside down. The hype of the #Basketball champs knowing @huntercollegewbb having a chance to win and will test my mental ability to keep it cool under pressure.

Wednesday, Monique will need to inject a lot of juice to be exhausted Andrew Tiger Henderson to keep me focused eyes on the prize and revive me who has been shaken once again by a sudden passing. 
RIP Carole Pia Cohen. See you on the other side and when I run for you in dedication.
