You’ve probably heard about free radicals but what you may not have heard is how they effect your skin. ☀️💨🔥🍔🍹 Free radicals can damage the skin by trying to grab an extra electron from atoms in the skin. When atoms are taken away from molecules in the skin, it causes damage to our skin's DNA that can speed along skin aging. I addressed this skin concern and how to minimize the damage along with some other top skin care experts in this great @TodayShow article.
"Free radicals exist in our environment and can be generated from substances in the food we eat, the medicines we take, the air we breathe and the water we drink," says Dr. Joyce Imahiyerobo-Ip, a board-certified dermatologist based in Massachusetts.
Basically, free radicals can be anywhere, and you can be exposed to them in a number of ways. Your own body even produces them as a byproduct of your metabolism and as part of the natural aging process.
Hoping to avoid free radical damage? These are some common causes:
* Air pollution
* Sunlight (UV radiation)
* Poor nutrition
Now that you know the causes, check out some solutions in the full article link found on my Facebook page.
