Exactly. As a student of history and a lover of architecture, I totally understand the need to fix that building. I don't even care that it's a church because I see it more like a living piece of history rather than a symbol of Christianity. HOWEVER... people over in Flint are still stuck with poisoned water, Puerto Rico still has not recovered, there are billion dollar companies who aren't paying a dime in taxes, and the middle class falls deeper and deeper into poverty. And yet the moment a French church catches flame, our government (which allegedly cannot pay for veterans' healthcare or college for poor kids) AND all these tax-dodging assholes who contribute nothing to society all open their checkbooks? How about we get some clean water in Flint first and then we'll worry about some new wood for an old church in a very rich nation that doesn't need our fucking help. You know, prioritize.
