Repost: 📸 @olarrokenya “An aerial image of an Olarro style bush dinner.Local Kenyan food, crackling fire, the sound of wildlife and magical sunsets.” Our first insight to the motherland, is the beautiful country Kenya, officially known as the Republic of Kenya.
This country lies on the East Coast of Africa, with the earth’s equator running directly through its center. Kenya gained its independence in 1963 and became a Republic the following year. Currently, there are over 48 million people who live there, making it the 7th most populated country in Africa. The capital, Nairobi, is Kenya’s biggest city as well as one of Africa’s most developed cities.
Filled with an abundance of incredible wildlife such as lions, giraffes and elephants, Kenya is one of the top tourist attractions on the continent. Making it the home of over 100 types of mammals and over a 1,000 species of birds. It also has one of the most successful agricultural production regions and the largest coffee export in Africa.
With Kenya being so incredibly rich in culture and heritage it’s important to be aware of the history, diversity and traditions amongst it’s people. With well over 40 tribes and over 30 languages, Kenya is the place to genuinely learn more about.
Every Wednesday here at #Goback2Africa .me we’ll drop a little insight into one of the 54 countries of the motherland?
Fun fact: Despite Kenya being known for its enormous amount of coffee exports, the citizens there actually prefer tea.
What country do you want to learn more about next?
