ISSUE 4 is out now! When did that happen?! As usual you can find us online at our website (plus bundle deals aplenty) or in every good news agent and indie shop😉 Here’s a little extract from our editorial that I think showcases a little of what we were feeling as we produced it. 🖊
Too often, what we own defines who we are – and we are constantly encouraged to discard our current possessions for the next new and shiny item that comes along. This obsession with acquisition isolates us from those around us – reducing our 'community' to those that stare up at us from our Instagram feeds. (The irony!)
This obsession with constant growth – more possessions, more wealth, more power – is a large part of why we
find ourselves facing unprecedented global environmental disaster. It is a toxic mindset we must dismantle in favour of establishing a new order where people are put above profit. Since we first launched Omnom Magazine, we have witnessed more and more people rejecting the status quo and considering how they can help their wider community, not just themselves.
Looking beyond short-term personal gain is a key driver in the growing trend towards plant-based lifestyles. It is evident in the increasing number of business founders choosing to build purpose-led companies that can be fairer, less wasteful while serving the community in a positive way.
This issue presents our starkest
break yet from our origins, focusing on how we as individuals can lead more environmentally sound lives and – more importantly – how our actions can, in turn, make a difference to the communities we live in.
We look at how plant-based living is built into our social fabric: parents discuss why they chose to raise their kids as vegans and a beer company explains how brewing can help us with our huge waste bread problem.
We really hope this issue leaves you feeling empowered both to take action as an idividual and to engage more with your local community. Change doesn’t happen in silos. 🖊
As always, please tag us in your pics so we can see the magazine out in the world! Helena & Ben
