My first festival of the year normally involves me dancing in the sun, showered with glitter, listening to some great music whilst sipping a G&T.
But not this year. Today, I attended INSOMNIA, the UK’s biggest gaming festival that’s being held in Birmingham over this bank holiday weekend 🎮
I was a little bit gutted that it happened to be on one of the hottest days of the year so far as there are other places I’d rather be on a hot day than spending the day on the M40 and in a dark warehouse full of gaming fanatics.
But there was so much going on, I couldn’t help but enjoy it. From the latest games across the best gaming platforms (Nintendo is our fave by far) to some nostalgic retro ones (I tried to find Chucky Egg on the Commodore 64 but failed) 🥚 there was something for everyone.
And it even felt a bit like a traditional festival - just without the music. Cool-looking street food stalls, dressing up and even indoor camping for those staying for more than a day.
But most importantly, my Mario-obsessed boys loved it - it was like gaming heaven to them. And that’s what bank holidays are all about to me - family-time and seeing the look of utter joy on my boys’ faces 💙 #insomnia #gaming #gamingfestival #birmingham #nec #indoorcamping #games #computergames #allaboutthekids #festival #nintendo #switch #nintendoswitch #familytime #bankholidayweekend #supermario #splatoon #supersmashbrosultimate #pokemon #yoshiscraftedworld
