The @rallyuhccycling team made its way to Portugal for #GPBeiras last weekend. Racing in Portugal is a different game here than a lot of the rest of Europe. The Portuguese teams race A LOT but not much outside of Portugal. It leads to some unexpected team tactics that are difficult to adjust to when you come from reacting to WorldTour teams in bigger races; the Portuguese prefer complete lack of control during the races and would rather just send it every time the roads tilts upward. Don’t get me wrong, we were still in reaction mode all weekend (AKA getting dropped up big hills) but at least we could eventually lend some control to the races and try to do what we know how to do. Cheers to another bit of hard preparation for Flèche Wallone and Yorkshire coming up.
