Should you eat 1,200 calories per day to lose fat?
I used to wonder the same thing along with being mislead about a lot of other diet myths and misconceptions.
Here's some of the stuff I used to believe and live by ⤵️
I had to eat breakfast as SOON as I woke up or else my metabolism would slow down. 🍳
I had to eat every 2-3 hours or else my blood sugar levels would crash and I would start storing fat. ⌚️
I also thought more meal frequency meant I would burn more calories digesting the food. 🔥
Every woman should eat 1,200 calories or less per day in order to lose fat. 😣
Eating simple carbs should be slim to none even white rice and white potatoes was off-limits! 🍚
Eating late at night would lead to an increase in body fat gain. 🌙
Saturated fat=BAD! No cheese or butter for me. 🧀
⏩Fast forward to 5+ years later to NOW after a bit more evidence-based education and learning to see the bigger picture...
I understand that eating breakfast doesn't necessarily spark the metabolism. Skipping breakfast doesn't slow it down either. 💁🏼
Meal timing and frequency depends on personal preference and lifestyle. At the end of the day, total calorie intake with sufficient protein trumps any meal timing/frequency strategies. 😅
More meal frequency isn't necessarily a good thing as it can lead to more chances to overeat and feeling less satisfied. 😏
Eating 1,200 calories per day could be appropriate for a petite woman. One size doesn't fit all. Different bodies have different calorie requirements. 💃🏼
White rice and white potatoes are nutrient-dense and fit perfectly fine into the context of a balanced diet. 👌🏼
Eating later doesn't necessarily lead to more fat gain. Eating too many calories does. 😄
Saturated fat is actually fine in moderation. Butter and cheese can amplify the flavor of lean protein, veggies and starches to make meals more enjoyable. Plus, fats help regulate hormones and can help increase feelings of satiety. 😋
