This latest poll on CNN says 71% of Americans think Trump is doing a good job with the economy. Who are these 71%? "About 40 million Americans live in poverty, 18.5 million in extreme poverty, and 5.3 million live in Third World conditions of absolute poverty. We have the highest youth poverty rate in the industrialized world and the highest infant mortality rates. . . . Our citizens live shorter and sicker lives compared to those living in all other rich democracies". - U.N. Human Rights Council "4 in 10 adults don’t have savings to cover an unexpected expense of $400. More than 1 in 5 are not able to pay their monthly expenses. More than 1 in 4 skipped necessary medical care because they could not afford the cost." - Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve "43 out of 100 households cannot afford the basics to live. They aren’t earning enough to pay for the combined costs of housing, food, child care, health care, transportation and a smartphone." - United Way
Businesses are closing, thus putting more people out of work. There are still the chronically unemployed in depressed areas. There's hardly any affordable housing in major metropolitan cities, the homelessness rate has gone up exponentially across the country and some of the new homeless are once middle class people with jobs, sleeping in their cars and businesses are creating low wage and/or part-time jobs with no benefits, isn't exactly a booming economy. Plus a higher cost of living, with rent and heathcare costs skyrocketing, is eating into most of the working class people's paychecks. And let's not forget that bust of a taxscam. It trickled up to the wealthy, not down to the poor and working class.
Gaging the economy on how well the wealthiest among us are doing is not indicative of the true financial health of most Americans. The truth is, most people are struggling and no one seems to want to acknowledge that. #Taxscam #DontBelieveTheHype #Economy #Homelessness #LowWages #CNN #TheGrio #TheRoot #Poverty #ChronicallyUnemployed #GM #MSNBC
