“Energy drinks have been well marketed so well to us men. Associating them with motocross & extreme sports, putting them in camo cans makes us feel really manly when buying them.
I used to drink them. In fact I drank them for 14 years straight and 2 to 3 a day! Needless to say I had an addiction. I even use to have the mentality of "look at me, I'm cool because I drink Monsters". Let's be real, it is probably just as bad as smoking cigarettes. The sugar is addicting, the “coolness factor” is addicting, the jittery jacked up feeling your body gets is addicting.
In my first 2-3 months of being consistent on
Plexus, I couldn't even stand the smell of Monster Energy drinks. #goodbye
Yes I know the whole "leave me alone, I'll drink what I want" or "stop nagging me!". #destroyyourego
These wannabe energy drinks were not only destroying my health, decaying my teeth, and causing a hole in my pocket, they were hurting my family life. Between my crashes, being exhausted on the weekends, coming home full of anxiety, and wanting to leave to go "get the 2 for $5" special, I was not a happy husband and father.
After hearing so many testimonies about how people have had major health problems after drinking these energy drinks, I am filled with compassion to reach out to men and women to expose the lies we are being fed. The price of a 3-4 hour energy kick is not worth the health risk nor the risk of an unhealthy household atmosphere. #donttakethecheese Even the whole 0 calories, no sugar, “healthy version” of these energy drinks are full of the WRONG stuff.
I haven’t had one in who knows when and I have more energy now by choosing a different regimen and letting go of the mainstream lies.” - Justin Ryan
