If you have one of these at home please do your skin a favor and throw it away. 😭😭😭 I can’t tell you how many of our clients have totally wrecked their skin, sometimes beyond repair, with these things! It breaks our hearts that companies sell them without really explaining the risks. Here’s why they can be so dangerous: 1. There is NO way you can properly sterilize these at home. Any bacteria on the device, is bacteria being punctured into your skin. At SELAH our needles are one time use only! Never ever reused. 2. Only products with molecules that have been adapted to be smaller can be needled into the skin. Needling too large of molecules will cause impactions and scarring! 3. These needles are on a curved roller. When looked at under a microscope, these devices tear the skin when they puncture. Microneedling should only be done by a professional pen device where the needles are only able to go straight up and down. This prevents tearing the skin! 4. Rolling over breakouts spreads bacteria and can cause way more breakouts! 5. Microneedling should never be done more than once a month so your skin can properly heal. More frequently than that can actually damage collagen fibers and make you age faster! 😭 I am horrified when these devices instruct customers to use them weekly or even daily! No no no. 6. You can’t control what depth the needles are pushed into the skin. Your forehead, lips, cheeks and jaw all need different depths for safety, not all the same depth. 7. These rollers are CHEAP. Professional machines cost several thousand dollars and these rollers cost $5-$100. The quality of the needles are terrible. When seen under a microscope they are jagged and even bent over at the very tip. This means skin ripping!! 8. Microneedling of any kind should not be used if you are pregnant, on blood thinners, steroids, accutane, active acne, herpes, eczema, psoriasis, blood disorders, keloid scarring or auto immune disorders. What it all comes down to is, you get what you pay for! Be sure you only receive microneedling treatments from a trained and certified professional where your safety is the top priority!
