{Drink Up} - Are you hydrating enough? It’s recommended to drink half your body weight in ounces of water, something I didn’t do until I started my @fasterwaytofatloss journey back in September.

When I drink my recommended amount of water (which sometimes is hard for me to do) this is what happens:
.
✨ My skin looks brighter
🤔 I can concentrate better
🎈 I’m not bloated
😴 Sleep becomes more restful
💧 Cravings go away
.
In my glass I tried to mix it up a bit today and I’m not sure what to call it...a tea? Infusion? You tell me 🤷🏻‍♀️.

I took some lemon balm from outside + dried lavender and poured boiling water over that to steep for 15 minutes. I added ice and mint leaves  and it’s a refreshing, floral, and slightly lemony drink. I was going to add some lemon, but I think the husband used the last one for gin + tonics the other day 😆.

{Carbs} - I’m just over here getting ready for tomorrow’s carb cycle day when we EAT🙌🏼ALL🙌🏼THE🙌🏼CARBS.

Last night I did a Prep Week call with my new group of clients and explained to them the @fasterwaytofatloss carb cycle. I prepared them for the fact that we eat a ton of carbs on certain days with a purpose.
.
I love the variety that comes with carb cycling. It’s not an all or nothing lifestyle. A life without carbs is no life for me, but I also really love my healthy fats (hello guac 🥑). I have balance in my week now, and it’s great!
.
So save this for when you’re shopping and need to hit your carb goals with wonderful veggies providing you with your vitamins, minerals, and complex carbs 💙.

I like cars, but for me it’s more of an A to B.⁣

When it comes to where I live, vibe and location is more important to me than having lots of extras.⁣

Dogs 🐶 of course too, but they aren’t EXTRAS they’re family.⁣

Holidays for me are about walking, exploring, beaches, sun, having fun, eating and enjoying some local beer 🍺 with the people I’m with.⁣
⁣
And again it’s more about the vibe of the place I stay than it is about being in a lap of luxury.⁣
⁣
Maybe things will change.⁣
⁣
But right now I prefer to spend my money on learning new skills and bettering myself.⁣
⁣
I probably spend thousands of pounds each year on books, courses & coaching which help me learn new skills and hobbies.⁣
⁣
And I honestly believe there is no better investment than an investment in yourself.⁣
⁣
STUFF will come and go.⁣
⁣
But skills you can take with you everywhere.⁣
⁣
If you are dropped in the middle of nowhere you still have everything you know at your disposal.⁣
⁣
I still know how to look after my health and my body.⁣
⁣
I can coach others to develop the skill too.⁣
⁣
I have learned a tonne from investing in business mentors, and if I had to start from scratch I know exactly what I would have to do.⁣
⁣
Writing, Systems, Productivity focusing on what matters and discarding what doesn’t...⁣
⁣
I do the same with hobbies...⁣
⁣
I can play the guitar to a reasonable level (still practicing).⁣
⁣
This year I’ve been learning to dance bachata 💃 , definitely won’t pay the bills 😂 but I get a lot out of it.⁣

It FEELS good to learn and grow.⁣
⁣
And just like I tell my clients, it’s the process of taking control of their health and building the body they want which is the most rewarding part.⁣
⁣
There is no real end point.⁣
⁣
Of course you can achieve goals you set yourself but there is always room for further growth...⁣
⁣
Whether that’s in your body or in your mindset and outlook.⁣
⁣
And it’s an amazing feeling to know that you are getting that bit better every day/week.⁣
⁣
Never underestimate how powerful an investment in yourself can be.

My #fitness journey REALLY started in 2013. I didn’t own shorts or wear them willingly for over 15 years
.

I wore them one day in 2013 because it was HOT and I would have looked crazy in long pants. But- they didn’t fit. I wasn’t comfortable and cried that day out of embarrassment because of it 😔
.

I did the 100 squat challenge, google searched thousands of times and tried EVERYTHING to have the lean, toned legs I felt like “everyone else has.” I thought FOR SURE if I had that I would really be happy
.

My legs have changed for sure, but that’s not what made me happy, confident or empowered. I had to learn the hard way that achieving a certain weight or look DIDNT mean that life was suddenly great
.

My own determination to change, my desire to improve and fall in love with myself helped. I was so tired of feeling this way. Bodybuilding empowered me and educated me on how to train for the body I wanted, that also helped👌🏻
.

Having a #nutrition coach helped me learn to fuel my body to get there even faster. I wish I had known what I know now in high school and college. Knowledge is power! 💯
.

If this sounds familiar, just know that i have BEEN THERE. You did not invent this concept. You WONT feel this way forever, I am proof 🙏🏻
.

I can look back in these last 6 years with the confidence and selfesteem I always wanted to feel. I NEVER thought i would get here- but here I am 🙏🏻
.

I didn’t need to squat, run or wish my way to legs like “hers”(that actually did the opposite of what I wanted 🤦🏼‍♀️). I needed to figure out how to make legs like MINE ☝🏻
.

So, ladies: whatever “it” is.... Do it to reach your #bodygoals but also to be unapologetically YOU. You are the most beautiful when you are being exactly who you are. You are enough ❤️

Approach it with an open mind, and more positive challenge and BAM- now we have some options!

Don’t spend tonight, tomorrow or any other day being negative or pessimistic about your goals!
.

Start chipping away at things, and If you don’t know where to start- dig deep and ask for some help 💯
.

We are making headway in our journey towards overcoming our disordered eating, we are finally feeling "in the groove" with working on our health, eating well, etc....and then BOOM, something happens⁣

We start to doubt ourselves, we start to remember how much easier it was to be living in our old habits, we tell ourselves that "maybe it's not the right time", "I'm not strong enough", "I can't do this right now"⁣

🛑 STOP RIGHT THERE🛑 ⁣

We all have days were we doubt ourself and wish we had never started down this path in the first place, but HOLD UP, this is what you do! ⁣
⁣
1️⃣Go back to when you first decided to start down this path...why did you start? What motivated you then? Go back to that and remind yourself why you started in the first place.⁣

2️⃣Find a motivator that is ahead of you. Imagine what your life could look like if you kept going & didn't stop. Find that future that you want and WORK FOR IT.⁣
⁣
3️⃣Take a deep breath and remind yourself that it is OKAY to want to give up. It is OKAY to want to go back. But, also remind yourself that you are as strong as you want to be, and ARE capable of pushing through!⁣

4️⃣Find ONE THING that you can do in that moment, today, or this week that will push you forward, and commit to just that! Keep putting one foot in front of the other, and you will make it to your destination!⁣

{Switchel} - It’s finally warm enough outside to enjoy a big glass of switchel (haymaker’s punch, good girl moonshine, whatever you want to call it).

It’s hydrating and AWESOME for inflammation! The base ingredients are usually ginger, ACV, sweetener, and lemon juice mixed into a base of water or tea.

Today I did elderberry tea (it’s delicious) and picked some mint from outside. Completely refreshing! Wish I could sip on this with you on my porch here at the blue farmhouse, but we can toast each other virtually. Cheers!

I’m going to give you a profound realisation right now.⁣

Creating a healthy, enjoyable diet is like constructing a beautiful building.⁣
⁣
What the building looks like is totally up to you, beauty is in the eye of the beholder after all.⁣
⁣
But regardless of how you want the building to look, the principles of ensuring it’s sturdy and stands the test of time are the same.⁣
⁣
We first want to ensure the ground floor foundations are set before we begin to construct the first floor.⁣
⁣
The first floor before the second, and so on. ⁣
⁣
No floor is unimportant, but without the floors below there is nothing to secure the floors higher up.⁣
⁣
Your diet is NO DIFFERENT.⁣
⁣
1️⃣ Calories must be set to match your goal whether that be fat loss, muscle gain, or weight maintenance.⁣
⁣
Without this, the diet will fail to do what it’s supposed to.⁣
⁣
2️⃣ Macros (Protein, Fats & Carbs) are then decided based on goals to ensure maximum performance and recovery.⁣
⁣
3️⃣ Food choice then ensures we feel full on our diet and are giving our body everything in needs to stay in vibrant health.⁣
⁣
This is also the time to decide how we want to include our favourite foods into our calories and macros.⁣
⁣
4️⃣When & How often we eat is our next decision and for the most part this just comes down to preference.⁣
⁣
Eating at least 3 meals throughout the day is preferable to minimise chances of getting excessively hungry throughout the day.⁣
⁣
This also allows us to get multiple protein servings to stimulate recovery and adaptions from training. 🏋️‍♂️ ⁣
⁣
5️⃣Supplements, are like the spire of the building. ⁣
⁣
In many cases unnecessary and the last thing we need to consider.⁣

Supplements such as whey protein and fish oils can make life easier to hit our daily targets.⁣

• Reduce screen time 45-60 mins before bed

On my 40th Birthday back in June 2018 my weight hit 226 pounds (102.5 kilograms). I was very tired and frustrated all the time. After my trip to Israel in September 2018 I have decided to change that and started changing many aspects of my lifestyle. December 2018 I started tracking my weight with #fitbitaria2 (screenshots included here). I got to 78 kilos weight (172 pounds) last week and started working on gaining more muscle mass now. This is why it’s so important to make training and nutrition a part of your lifestyle.⁣

Why the focus should be on creating habits.⁣
⁣
FADS require more mental effort, because things are always chopping and changing.⁣
⁣
Every time you want to lose some body fat, it’s no longer a small adjustment to your routine...⁣
⁣
It’s a life upheaval to adopt whatever RULES the new fad place upon you.⁣
⁣
If you learn the principles of nutrition and create a day to day lifestyle which keeps you healthy and that you enjoy...⁣
⁣
If you decide upon how many days per week YOU are willing to workout for 40-60 mins and commit to it and focus on progressing in those workouts each week/month...⁣

Then you are free to let those things blend in with your day to day.⁣

{Low Carb Day} - I’ve grown to appreciate our carb cycle in the beginning of the week. I’m not one for low carb foods or cardio, but let me tell you...it’s incredibly effective for fat burning. It’s like a restart for my body each week. Getting these workouts have been more difficult for me since going back to work, but I’m taking a line from @msrachelhollis and I’m not breaking a promise to myself. That doesn’t mean I’m going to be perfect at this, it just means I’m going to evaluate my excuses. Any time I’ve pushed myself I end up proud that I didn’t give up. However motivation as we think of it, is just a fleeting emotion.⁣
⁣
And as you know our emotions eb and flow, we don’t feel the same way all the time.⁣
⁣
Let’s paint a picture...⁣
⁣
Sarah is out one Friday night drinking at one of the most lively bars in town.⁣
⁣
While she’s out she bumps into Rachel, an old uni buddy who she hasn’t seen in a while.⁣
⁣
She notices that Rachel looks different.⁣
⁣
She looks radiant, she looks slim but curvy and can see her toned back in her backless dress...⁣
⁣
Some of Sarah’s friends notice them talking and come over.⁣
⁣
They too can’t believe how good Rachel looks.⁣
⁣
“Wow Rachel...you have been working hard, you look amazing!”⁣
⁣
In that moment Sarah feels a little jealous, she’s thinking to herself...⁣
⁣
“I’d love to have someone say that about me...maybe I should start going to the gym”⁣
⁣
In that moment Sarah is motivated.⁣
⁣
An immediate experience has led her to feel an emotion which is driving her to action.⁣
⁣
However after a week or two passes that emotion fades.⁣
⁣
Sarah would still love the results but the emotion that was originally driving her is no longer there.⁣
⁣
Now it’s much easier for Sarah to forget the whole idea and go back to doing what she has always done.⁣
⁣
Motivation as we think of it is excitement, urgency, inspiration, desperation...⁣
⁣
That doesn’t last.⁣
⁣
What does is Momentum.⁣
⁣
When you begin to take action, no matter how big or small...it gives you a sense of moving forward.⁣
⁣
The more you take action, the more you start to feel like the person who...in this case...goes to the gym...makes nutrition a priority.⁣
⁣
You begin to see success, that success then drives your want for more.⁣
⁣
It is at this point we begin to change, and the results we get change.⁣
⁣
The key to lasting transformation is not feeling motivated, it’s getting started...⁣
⁣
It’s gradually building momentum over time.⁣
⁣
And then allowing that momentum to propel you in the direction you want to go.⁣
⁣
So whether you feel like it or not, JUST MOVE.

𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟕 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐫, 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭...⁣

I was asked today while everyone was getting prepped to start whether eggs are a good source of protein...⁣
⁣
Here I’m going to share my exact answer you today...⁣
⁣
“Great question Sarah!⁣
⁣
Egg WHITES are a good protein source. 🥚 ⁣
⁣
And the yolk is a great source of fat. 🍳 ⁣
⁣
However a whole egg typically contains 6 grams of protein and 5 grams of fat at 76 calories per egg.⁣
⁣
It takes roughly 25 grams of protein to stimulate the recovery/lean muscle building process.⁣
⁣
We would therefore need to eat 4-5 eggs to achieve this bringing us to a total of 300-400 calories from eggs.⁣
⁣
We could simply eat 100 grams of chicken (just as an example) for 110 calories and get our 25 grams of protein.⁣
⁣
For every gram of fat we get 9 calories.⁣
⁣
For every gram of protein we get 4 calories.⁣
⁣
So unless we are eating pure egg whites (which you CAN buy cartoned) ⁣
⁣
Then the calorie to protein ratio in eggs isn’t worth it due to the fat which comes with it which ramps up the calories.⁣
⁣
When we are trying to reduce our calorie intake for fat loss, adding lots of extra fats to our diet isn’t going to help us get the most from our calories.⁣
⁣
Nothing wrong with eggs whatsoever, they are very nutritious.⁣
⁣
But from the standpoint of trying to eat enough protein while staying in a calorie deficit, they aren’t the most effective option”⁣
