Here are 4 you can use when the urge to go off track arises. 💪🏌⁣⁣

1⃣ The 20 Min Rule⁣⁣
⁣⁣
When fat loss is the goal and you feel the urge to curb your boredom with snacking, try to wait a further 20 mins.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Sip on some water as you do 💊If it’s simply a craving rather than real hunger, it’s likely the feeling will pass.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
2⃣ If after 20 mins there’s something in the room triggering the craving.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Maybe someone across the desk from you is eating a bag sweets while they work. 🍬 ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Then change your environment for a little bit.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Go for a 15 min walk if possible, not only will that short circuit the craving it’ll allow you to get more activity in which serves your goals.⁣⁣

3⃣ If all else fails have a fruit or protein bridge snack handy for between meals. 🍎🍐🍊🥝⁣⁣
⁣⁣
A protein shake or some strawberries for example, something which is filling and curbs any potential hunger you might have until your next meal🍓 ⁣⁣

4⃣The long term solution is trying to cut down on SUPER delicious foods 🍪🍩🍫 so you’re only having them now and again.⁣⁣

It gives us more FREEDOM.⁣

We’re not going to eat this way everyday, but at least we CAN once in a while, without a second thought.⁣

Not only can we fully enjoy looking and feeling how we want...⁣

Getting excited to wear a bathing suit on holiday.⁣

Totally confident to strip down in front of our partner.⁣
⁣
Enjoy trying on new clothes. 👗👚👖👔⁣

But we can have those odd days where we throw all the diet rules out the window and fully embrace it. 🀀🍔🌮🍚⁣

Work each day to move just that little bit closer to creating the healthy lifestyle you want.⁣ it will be well worth it for the freedom it brings you.

Honestly, I think it’s the excitement for my new clients and the fact that last week I stayed pretty tight with my nutrition after getting back from vacation. This is not usually how my Mondays go.

Simply eating the right foods and eating enough of them gives me crazy energy!

Who else is ready to kick Monday in the 🍑?!!

It’s only 8 and I got my @fasterwaytofatloss membership live HIIT workout in, I got a brand new group of ladies starting their Prep Week today 🙌🏌, and I’ve drank my water before sipping this here coffee. I’m feeling good! Amazing actually💃🏻

Honestly, I think it’s the excitement for my new clients and the fact that last week I stayed pretty tight with my nutrition after getting back from vacation. This is not usually how my Mondays go.

Keep this in mind if things are taking longer than expected or you are nearly at your expected end point when it comes to weight loss.

If you still have a bit to go or your moving on to the often more difficult part MAINTENANCE 😲, remember it will only keep working if you do.

Lifestyle change isn’t thrown in there to make it sound fancy, your old ways are gone if you want to maintain. You can’t just throw caution to the wind now the holiday is here or the 12 week challenge is over. Sure you can enjoy the holiday or celebrate the 12 weeks of hard work but don’t go ballistic for weeks on end.

You will undo the hard work quicker than you could imagine if you really blow out for an extended amount of time.

Keep your habits in place, keep aware of what you are and are not doing 👊🏻 and stay 💯 honest with all of it so you can manage it if needed.

That doesn’t mean you need to track or point or fast (whatever your diet strategy was) forever but it does mean you need to use a bit of cop on for the next phase.

To sum up we need to do enough work (volume/sets) per muscle group to stimulate the muscle to grow while pushing to add more weight to the bar, improve technique/ and or range of motion over time.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
More specifically, we want to:⁣⁣
⁣⁣
✅ Perform 10-20 sets per muscle group per week⁣⁣
⁣⁣
✅ Get strong in the 6-20 rep range⁣⁣
⁣⁣
✅ Stimulate the muscle 2-3 times per week (splitting your sets over the sessions)⁣⁣
⁣⁣
✅Focus the majority of our time getting strong on the exercises which target multiple muscles and are easy to progress on.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Giving up the biggest bang for our buck. 🔥👍🏌⁣⁣
⁣⁣
If you are ticking the above boxes when putting your programme together, you’ll find you’re on your way to creating a pretty damn effective muscle building programme 😘💪🏌

Last Friday my amazing client @fionagilroy successfully put up a 60kg Bench Press for a single with reps to spare.⁣
⁣
It went up so easy, I think we were both a bit stunned.⁣
⁣
I can remember the first day she walked through the doors of @ghfdundee for her first consultation.⁣
⁣
It was all very new, uncomfortable and daunting I’m sure she’d say.⁣
⁣
Slimming world had been Fi’s go-to prior...⁣
⁣
The prospect of being comfortable in a gym seemed like a fairy tale...yet...she gathered the courage to do it anyway.⁣
⁣
Since day one, come rain or shine, she has turned up consistently every single week (taking into account going away on holiday and the odd late work night)⁣
⁣
In this time she has lost 4 stone and kept it off while still going for drinks and out to eat at weekends....⁣
⁣
And enjoying the local cuisine in places such as Iceland 🇮🇞 Croatia 🇭🇷& Greece 🇬🇷 ⁣

If you’re struggling to find the energy right now...try this:⁣

Give yourself less to do in a week to succeed. ✔ ⁣

Do a short home workout or just get to the gym 2 times a rather than 4. ⁣

Try to start the day with a good high protein breakfast. ⁣

2⃣ Flip the day on its head and get up earlier to prep or workout. ⁣

You’ll have the majority of your energy and you’ll likely find over time you have more energy day to day as a result.

Today I had to pull out the smallest weights I had for the @fasterwaytofatloss Membership workout. I’ll be honest, I was fighting back a little disappointment in myself because I haven’t seen these bitty weights since September.
.
Then I reminded myself that I’m SO much further ahead than I was last July....like by a lot. Have you seen my before pics?
.
Your health/fitness/wellness journey is not a straight path. Sometimes it takes unexpected twists and turns. There are times of focus like a sprint, other times it’s more like a stroll.
.
Because I’m not doing some XX-day challenge or trying the latest supplement, I can give myself the grace that I need with this lifestyle.
.
Next week those small weights might be collecting dust again in my cabinet, but for now, they’re part of the journey and THAT’S OK!

Nothing special, nothing flashy...⁣

Just a burning desire to feel better about myself. 🔥 ⁣

It wasn’t until a year later I first set foot in the gym. 🥺⁣

I didn’t even enjoy it at first. 🥵⁣

It was new, it was uncomfortable and it was damn hard 🀣⁣

But I persevered, I learned more and my confidence grew. 😄💪🏌⁣

It was initially just the want to better my self which drove me. ⁣

It’s summertime!! Which means that planned AND spur of the moment get togethers are popping up all over the place. And what do we like to do when we get together?! EAT!  My  passion in my business is to create FREEDOM and sustainability for my clients and part of that is to know how to ENJOY social gatherings with loads of food and still be closer to their goals at the end of the day.

So here’s my top tips for surviving summer BBQs, potlucks and more!

1: BRING SOMETHING THAT YOU CAN EAT: when you’re choosing what to bring to your get-together, make sure it’s something that fits in with your macros or food goals.  Whole food choices like chicken or veggies to grill & share, fruit salad, a clean potato salad or a veggie tray. That way, you know there’s at least ONE thing there that is healthy and will help you get closer to your goals.

2: REMEMBER THE GOAL:  Go into your social gatherings with the goal in mind. If you go into it mentally prepared to allow yourself 1-2 sweet treats, then you won’t go rogue and binge on all the things! Everything starts in your mind, so consciously deciding something beforehand will make the whole thing a lot easier!
.
3. CHOOSE WHOLE FOODS: do your best to choose whole foods where you can. Try an undone burger (burger without a bun) or grilled chicken, salads, raw veggies, corn on the cob, watermelon 🍉 sooo many good options!
.
4. WHEN IN DOUBT-WATER!- there’s sooo much sugar and calories in what we drink it’s crazy! So if you’re wanting to indulge in other areas (ahem, 🍊 🧁 🍩), you can balance things out by choosing water instead of beer 🍻 or sugary Soda! Try instead, an iced cold sparkling water like Perrier or or S. Pellegrino with some berries or a squeeze of lemon!

5. DONT STRESS IT AND ENJOY! - remember that 1 day won’t make or break your progress so just do the best you can and remember memories are more important than macros sometimes 😎🀩

The problem arises when when we are forcing ourselves to only eat the “Good” 🥬🥒🍅🥑🥊🍠🍗⁣

In the fear that eating the “Bad” is automatically going to wipe out our progress. 🍕🍟🍔🌭🥞🥖

Especially when some of our favourite foods are the “BAD” ones.⁣
⁣
👉🏌 But this ISN’T how the body works.⁣
⁣
Our calorie intake is the ONLY factor which determines weight gain, loss and maintenance.⁣
⁣
No food when eaten once in a while will have any impact on health or our fat loss progress.⁣
⁣
So, it is far better to view foods as on a spectrum of Nutritious to Less Nutritious.⁣
⁣
 We want to spend the majority of our time at the nutritious end so we know our protein, fibre, vitamin and mineral needs are taken care of.⁣
⁣
But you can enjoy your favourite less nutritious foods in moderation.⁣
⁣
Have a glass of wine or a beer, enjoy a burger, get some pick n mix at the movies.⁣
⁣
This is your life, health fitness does have to be priority if you want to reap the benefits but you are still allowed to enjoy yourself 😄👍🏌

If fat loss isn’t happening it’s because you aren’t eating less calories than you are burning consistently enough to see noticeable fat loss.⁣

1. You don’t have to have abs to be your BEST self, as long as your healthy and happy in your own skin then you’re golden 👌🏌⁣
⁣
2. No one can tell you how to eat because they aren’t you. Don’t follow the strict template you found on the internet, create something for yourself or get a coach to guide you.⁣
⁣
3. Nothing is off limits, practice moderation over restriction.⁣..Pizza, Chocolate, Bread, Wine are all fine once in a while.
⁣
4. Fat loss or your diet isn’t an on or off switch, it’s more like a dimmer, if you turn it down slightly with a less optimal food choice you can turn it back up by getting right back on track.⁣
⁣
5. Focus on the what you can control (the process) not what you can’t (end goals, family, work colleagues, genetics, circumstance)⁣
⁣
6. Take complete responsibility for what happens to you. The wins, the setbacks, everything. When you’re responsible, you have all the power to make change happen - don’t give that away.⁣
⁣
7. The best investment is one in yourself. If your not sure what to do, take courses and get coaching from someone you trust.⁣
⁣
8. Focus on Consistency over trying to be Perfect. Most of the time things aren’t going to be perfect. Its continuing to take action over the long term which matters most.
⁣
9. Any progress is great progress. Whether you lose weight, maintain your weight, gain a little without having a wobbly or realise that scale weight isn’t the be all and end all. It’s all great progress.⁣
⁣
10. Choose a form of strength training you enjoy, not what’s optimal, this way you’ll keep doing it and that’s when the results come.

1. You don’t have to have abs to be your BEST self, as long as your healthy and happy in your own skin then you’re golden 👌🏌⁣

2. No one can tell you how to eat because they aren’t you. Don’t follow the strict template you found on the internet, create something for yourself or get a coach to guide you.⁣
⁣
3. Nothing is off limits, practice moderation over restriction.⁣..Pizza, Chocolate, Bread, Wine are all fine once in a while.
⁣
4. Fat loss or your diet isn’t an on or off switch, it’s more like a dimmer, if you turn it down slightly with a less optimal food choice you can turn it back up by getting right back on track.⁣
⁣
5. Focus on the what you can control (the process) not what you can’t (end goals, family, work colleagues, genetics, circumstance)⁣
⁣
6. Take complete responsibility for what happens to you. The wins, the setbacks, everything. When you’re responsible, you have all the power to make change happen - don’t give that away.⁣
⁣
7. The best investment is one in yourself. If your not sure what to do, take courses and get coaching from someone you trust.⁣
⁣
8. Focus on Consistency over trying to be Perfect. Most of the time things aren’t going to be perfect. Its continuing to take action over the long term which matters most.

9. Any progress is great progress. Whether you lose weight, maintain your weight, gain a little without having a wobbly or realise that scale weight isn’t the be all and end all. It’s all great progress.⁣
⁣
10. Choose a form of strength training you enjoy, not what’s optimal, this way you’ll keep doing it and that’s when the results come.

There is a huge emphasise on finding the BEST diet or the BEST training programme right now. 🏋‍♂🥗⁣

This is what the fitness industry is set on marketing to people, so it’s no surprise.

But I believe this completely misses the mark.⁣
⁣
There’s a reason that box gym classes are filled with 30+ people not getting the results they want.⁣
⁣
There is a reason that cookie cutter PDF programmes bought online all too often leave people wanting.⁣
⁣
They are missing the secret sauce. 🍵⁣
⁣
The one thing which can literally 10 X the effectiveness  of your programme.⁣
⁣
What I’m talking about is...⁣

👉🏌Great Coaching.⁣

Now, I’m not self proclaiming that I’m the best coach out there.⁣

I’m actually very self critical and this keeps me looking for ways to do things better.

Well-let me let you in on something.  Ready?

You can STILL have your beloved coffee or tea first thing in the morning without breaking your fast.  Even if you don’t like black coffee, you can add a bit of  unsweetened almond milk for that creamy goodness without breaking your fast! (Can I get a woo woo!?🙌🏻)
