After cleaning 250lbs last week, yes I’m still glowing from that damnit!, I have set my goal of cleaning 275 sometime next year. On Monday I started my training to get it by working with lighter weights and working on my form. Understand, my biggest problem has been that I muscle the heavier weights instead of maintaining proper technique to get under the bar. There is no way I’ll get the heavier weights if I don’t perfect the basics.
So, I did some sets of front squat pauses, clean complex (RDL, hang clean, and front squats), high hang cleans, and pausing clean pulls. I didn’t go any higher than 85% of my clean max. In fact, aside from the pause clean pulls, I kept the weight around 55% to get faster and more comfortable under the bar.
This is going to be a long work in progress, but I know I can get there. If you have any suggestions, advice, or exercises to add to what I’m doing, please feel free to comment.
