Now, the same cow milk comes in all sorts of varieties: whole milk, 2 percent, 1 percent, skim (fat-free), and even lactose-free milk. as if i made brownies on saturday and didn’t eat any 😩🙈 seeing results always makes it easier to push. i’ve been solid on my diet for a week now and the results already and making me so motivated. 
Brownie recipe-
-150g dark chocolate -100g butter
-melt these together
-mix 200g caster sugar 100g of self raising flour. mix in 3 eggs. -add the melted chocolate and mix
-place in a pre heated 180 fan oven for 22 mins. Remember you don’t want to over cook them. they want to be gooey!! x

My menopause journey has been a challenge with trial and error and frustrations.  It’s not over and I’m sure there will be blips again but I aim to find the balance. Life isn’t easy and we all know that - I just have a new challenge - “to get me back” - I started my action plan - I increased my exercise ✔️ went to the dr ✔️ had my blood tested ✔️ I did my homework ✔️ started reading and researching and digging for the root cause & analysing the data. The one thing that I hadn’t picked apart was my fuel “what I eat” and the hormonal impact. So I went to an expert “a nutritionalist” - I’m a fan of experts :) and analysed my mental ups and downs against my food diary and what tweaks I could make.  She educated me on my diet choices and what could be impacting my menopausal symptoms so dramatically. My default food “can’t be bothered, on the run, just a quick snack” are carbs and they aren’t bad for me - or are they? Breakfast - wee buns aka chocolate baked oats. Busy morning and had know idea what I wanted so on the spare of the moment I came up with these and they didn't disappoint 👌

Used 40grms of oats (hexb) 1 large egg, 200grms of fat free yogurt, 2 tbspns of sweetener, level tspn of baking powder, and for that chocolatey goodness a Cadburys options (2 syns). Baked at 180 for 20 mins and hey presto. Let cool and topped with light squirty cream (1.5 syns per 12grms) and served with a lovely big mug of tea. Heaven!

Combine protein+fat+vegetables and/or fruit for optimal energy levels and nutrition.
Whole foods are better than processed cereals full of sugar.
Orange is better than orange juice because it has fiber and micronutrients.
And no, eggs are not bad for you.

I love this! And I love how it's so relatable even now! 
When I read this, I think of how we know what we shouldn't eat and what really isn't good for us. We know what won't get us closer to our goal and yet sometimes we just do it anyway. And we feel so horrible! Well, I don't know about you but I know I do this sometimes. 
I love that I can invite God into my health journey. I love that He cares about these small things that are so big to us. 
I think it's so important to have Him on your health journey because He reminds us how beautiful, how precious and loved we are, which really helps us not exercise and eat healthy from a place of hate, bitterness and comparison for ourselves, but from a place of love for the masterpeice God as made us to be.

🥦Broccoli and 🥗Cauliflower are so similar in how they look and how they grow. Heck, they’re even often served together. So, it’s easy to see why people may think of cauliflower as a “white broccoli.” They are both cruciferous vegetables and family members from the Brassica oleracea plant species. Both vegetables also originated from Europe’s Mediterranean region. 
There’s no doubt that both veggies are healthy and packed full of nutrition. However, with all that similarity, it begs the question: what veggie is better for your health?😕
They contain some of the same nutritional structures, many vitamins and high fiber. however, broccoli contains more than cauliflower and also contains vitamin A, which cauliflower does not have. But, cauliflower has lower calories than broccoli.

As for looks, both veggies have tightly bunched florets growing from a central stem. If you look closely, you’ll see that broccoli’s florets are spread out, while cauliflower’s are very tightly bunched. When it comes to taste, both absorb flavors from other foods well so they’re just about interchangeable in recipes. On their own, broccoli has a stronger, greener flavor, while cauliflower is more delicate.

If you can’t decide between broccoli or cauliflower, try broccoli 🙌🏻. Of course, that doesn’t mean you should skip the cauliflower rice or even choose broccoli over cauliflower at every single meal. Cauliflower is still an incredibly healthy food rich in plenty of vitamins and minerals. But maybe it does mean I can stop hiding cauliflower in my family’s meals and serve them the broccoli that they already love.

It’s an end to another weekend, and let’s be real, we all probably loosen the reigns a little when it comes to our eating on the weekends. It’s ok to have a little, but be sure you keep it under control. A 2-3 day binge can easily undo a whole week’s worth of healthy eating. Here’s some ways to keep it reasonable.

Don’t be too strict during the week. If you do, you may be more inclined to go crazy on the weekend

Limit alcohol. Alcohol has calories and with alcohol intake, there are generally poor food choices.

Set reasonable limits and stick to them. If you say “only 2 beers” or “no appetizers” then make sure you stick to it.

Don’t let other people dictate your actions. Many times, your friends and family may encourage you to indulge. Be sure to stay the course and leave the situation if need be

We all like takeout now and again and my partners favourite is an Indian. I don’t like to deny myself meals so I make informed decisions and chose healthier options.

Going through old photos and this still one blows my mind. I had struggled with my weight my entire adult life--until I switched to a plant based diet. Before switching, in order for me to keep my weight down I couldn't eat more than 1200 calories, and I was working out daily! Today (and for the last 2.5 years) I weigh 155 and never count calories; I eat whatever I want. I'm almost 44 and I've never been healthier. Many of my wrinkles have disappeared, my skin looks great, and I have so much energy. Vegan is so much easier than being morbidly obese.

Hoje é domingo, aquele dia internacional da asneira.

Felizmente cada vez menos se vê as pessoas a aderirem a este tipo de ideologias sem fundamentação científica, sem fundamentação nutricional, e acima de tudo do ponto de vista comportamental altamente propício a criar sentimento de culpa e frustração pessoal.

É um post muito forte, bem sei.

Mas a verdade é que é uma realidade entre nós.

E por isso quero vos dizer que comer X ou Y alimento menos rico nutricionalmente não tem que ser sinónimo de não serem pessoas saudáveis. Nada disso. Não de todo. Completamente errado.

Estes anos onde o fervor do fitness cresceu onde pessoas sem formação ou conhecimento incentivam pessoas a ser extremistas com a alimentação leva-nos para um caminho mais sombrio do que se podia pensar.

Não tens que sentir culpado por comer uma/umas fatias de pizza, por beber uma cerveja, por comer um/uns quadrados de chocolate, um gelado, uma fatia de bolo.

Pelo contrário, sentir que somos más pessoas ao fazê-lo, faz-nos querer continuar e comer até má disposição. Numa forma de nos autocastigarmos.

O cérebro humano é fascinante e difícil de explicar o porquê de não conseguirmos assumir que por vezes não fazemos as melhores escolhas mas não precisamos de piorá-las.

E por vezes, nem sequer fazemos más escolhas simplesmente nos enganaram ao fazer-nos pensar que os alimentos que gostamos pouco ricos nutricionalmente não podem ser incluída numa alimentação saudável.

Errado. Muito errado. Muito muito errado mesmo.

Isto não é um post a promover este tipo de alimentos, porque quem me segue e vê os meus posts bem sabe que vos tento orientar nas escolhas mais inteligentes, menos processadas, mais saciastes e mais ricas nutricionalmente.

Este post é promover bom senso alimentar. Este post é a promover uma boa relação alimentar.

Também eu já me senti culpado. Se lês este post e já o sentiste ou sentes isso partilha comigo nos comentários um dos alimentos que estão na imagem para que mais pessoas não se sintam sozinhas e acima de tudo não se sintam culpadas.

Peço-vos isto porque juntos somos mais fortes e juntos ajudamos mais pessoas.

Still feeling horrible so I decided to make a salad with tuna and yoghurt. I’m not sure that was such a good idea. I may have to visit my doctor this coming week if this continues.

One of the biggest issues I see with 'diets' geared toward a particular aesthetic goal is the tunnel vision around macros.⁣

The low-fat programming we've undergone as a country since 1977 is centered around excluding fat.⁣

In the low-fat vein, the traditional bodybuilding diets teach 60% carbs, 30% protein, and 10% fat.⁣

Others teach a 'balanced' approach to weight loss and muscle building of 40% carbs, 30% protein, and 30% fat.⁣

Low carb and ketogenic diets focus on lower carb intake, higher fat intake, and are variable on protein.⁣

This tunnel vision focus on macros alone has given rise to the #IIFYM (if it fits in your macros) trend with zero attention paid to food quality or individual tolerances or sensitivities.⁣

Weekend off plan!! This is just some of the delicious food I've consumed this weekend on a visit to see two of my closest friends in Glasgow. 5 of these pics were from the same meal, and I definitely didn't take pictures of everything. But we also walked 30,000 steps up a Munro yesterday so we definitely burnt a few calories too. 
The M&S @marks.and.spencer no turkey feast was AMAZING....such a good choice. For our evening meal we visited @sixbynico for their "Paris" menu. Absolutely gorgeous and an absolute bargain at £25 for 6 courses without drinks. Wish I lived a bit closer so I could go every 6 weeks haha. 
No food guilt this weekend. I ate what I liked but most of it was healthy and nutritious, and we seriously smashed the exercise goals. Life is still for living, and both my friends commented on how good I'm looking so I'll take that as an NSV. .
