While visiting with some friends at a happy hour on Friday, one of our pals told us we simply had to check out Pomelo in central Phoenix. Located in "The Orchard," Pomelo is part of the Luci's family of restaurants. "The Orchard" is a lovely little secluded courtyard surrounded by lush fruit trees - it's a very relaxing space serving as backdrop for a handful of artisan patio-focused eateries. .
T started out with a bloody mary, spicy style. It was good and had a peppery bite, but was maybe a bit more black-peppery than fiery hot. Still, pretty tasty. As an appetizer, we got their Giant Cinnamon Roll. The server claimed it would be the best we'd ever had...strong words! While it probably wasn't our all-time favorite, it was still a very good version. There was plenty of sweet icing adorning a good sized tender roll, finished with cinnamon syrup. T's entree was the Chilaquiles. It was overall good, but kinda weird. First off, the sauce was delish & the chunks of pork were well prepared. However, it was kinda strange that there were more potatoes in the mix than chips, and the scrambled eggs were closer to a huge folded omelet. J went for the Breakfast Pizza. This was excellent! Their wood-fired crust was a perfect smoky/blistered base for garlic cream, mozz, Schreiner's sausage, peppers, potatoes, and eggs. The garlic cream really tied the whole thing together and elevated this tasty pizza. .
Overall, we enjoyed our brunch at Pomelo. While the prices were a bit higher than we would have expected for the food, we would definitely return in the fall. Their outdoor patio space is lovely, and begs to be taken advantage of...just maybe not in the summer LOL. #sundayfunday #azbrunchchronicles #hubbyandwifeteam #eatinggoodintheneighborhood #bepreparedforflys #bepreparedforpollentofallinyourcocktail #whyarethosekidsscreaming #beautifulinside #greatjamstolistento #sparklersonacake #foodies #blogger #brunch #phoenix
