The physical therapist I saw today called me an Endurance Athlete. I’d never heard the term and IT. RESONATED.
It was a title I finally identified with and gave a name to all this training. I enjoy fitness, but want more than a fitness class. I participate in a sport, but wouldn’t say I *play* a sport. I’m an athlete, but don’t represent an organization, school, or team. I’m a runner, but distance running is more than just running. I’m an endurance athlete.
We have a different drive than other forms of fitness and we have a weakness : STRENGTH TRAINING! We hone in on the endurance workout, but loose sight of the strength needed to complete it without injury. I’ve been so focused on my leg strength during this training cycle, I neglected my upper extremities. But your arms power your run, propel your swim, and stabilize your bike. So, embarking on another strength training journey - the upper body. 💪💪
