feels so good to move again after taking a couple  days off.
I do struggle with balance in life, I am either all in or nothing at all. And I really tend to underestimate how much rest I actually need. Taking a break from training is the best thing you can do for your progress and it leaves you feeling so much stronger when you train. 
After my back injury I am still super aware of my body’s subtle signs, taking it’s boundaries really really seriously. It’s so interesting to look back at how much strength, stability and mobility I have gained since I was forced to do every single movement with proper form and I wouldn’t take it back if I could. EVERY challenging time in your life is teaching you how to grow beyond your current reality even if it seems really hard to see when you are in it. The amount of gratitude, appreciation and love for movement and play and dance I feel right now was worth all of it. And it makes me trust in life, in my body’s ability to heal, in my own strength and persistence. Percy’s gone badass. He’s so chuffed with his Tatts (he’s got one on the other side too). ⠀

This weekend we went to two of his little mates birthday parties. These kids we met through mother’s group so we’ve known them for just under three years.⠀

It’s so lovely watching Percy become more independent and instead of shying away from other kids, running towards them to get in on the action. ⠀

After a long history of tummy troubles, my guts were doing great for a while there - and then I hit a stumbling block. I received a slightly concerning and confronting diagnosis. Along with the persistent physical symptoms came the mental and emotional symptoms - the feelings of stress, overwhelm, anxiety and depression. Feeling saddened and cheated by my body and healthy lifestyle. Fear and confusion about what treatment path I should take. The stress of spending money on treatments, testing and supplements. Anxiety every time I feel unwell and what that might mean. I share this not for sympathy, intrigue or concern; but rather as a message to my patients past, present and future; to those who know me and those who don’t; I get it, I am going through it too! I know how you feel. I can empathise with you as you undertake your healing journey - because I am on one too. Everyone has their “stuff” - and while some are better at hiding it than others (health, wellness and illness looks different on every body) - we’re all in this together. Healing is not linear, some times (many times) it’s one step forward, two steps back. As a health practitioner it can be hard to admit that my health is not perfect. But perfect health is never the destination. Rather its about the lessons, connections, growth and acceptance we gain along the way. We are all a work in progress and most importantly we are not our diagnosis 🌟💗

To be honest. While making them I was a teeeeny bit skeptical... ok I was a lot skeptical lol but they are actually really amazing and guilt free 🙌😋 🤤 .

As most of you know I have a thing for chocolate, so if I can recreate any original dessert and make it guilt free, well, I’m gonna. .

Here’s the recipe: 
1 can of black beans rinsed. (BPA free can)
1 tbsp melted coconut oil
5 tbsp cocoa or cacao powder 
1 tsp vanilla 
2 tbsp unpasteurized honey .

Blend all ingredients together in a food processor. Roll into balls and put in the fridge for 30 mins. In the mean time, melt some dark chocolate or dark chocolate chips. Dip the balls in, and leave as is or roll in coconut flakes, crushed nuts or whatever you like!! . .

Ensure you are placing the tip of the thermometer underneath your tongue, towards the back where the heat pockets are. Always place it on the same side of your mouth.

Other things that can affect your temperature are:
-  Taking your temperature at a different time than usual
-  Interrupted sleep less than 3 hours
-  Illness
-  Medications
-  Stress
-  Alcohol
-  Traveling / time zone changes
-  Very hot or very cold room

If you have any doubt in your temperature reading it is advised to mark it questionable and not include it in your count

Left over brown rice. Some say “just chuck it out”. But to me, it cries endless culinary possibilities
.
Yesterday’s late-lunch brown-rice reborn featured:
🍚 Left over brown rice
🍚 Sunflower seeds
🍚 Pumpkin seeds
🍚 Paprika & cumin
🍚 Spanish onion
🍚 Garlic & fresh chilli
🍚 Olive oil
.
Pan fry on medium-high heat until it gets that golden crunch
.
Serve on a bed of mixed leaves, cabbage, grated carrot & beets
.
Add a little avocado and some extra protein if you like (I added some siera tuna)
.
Serve with yogurt tahini lemon dressing; and of course - garnish with a fresh herb 🌿: a Mexican salad if you will
. 
This meal is full of B vitamins, Zinc, Iron, antioxidants, protein, and omega-3s. And it’s pretty damn tasty too 👌🏼

“Greenwashing is the practice of making an unsubstantiated or misleading claim about the environmental benefits of a product, service, technology or company practice. Greenwashing can make a company appear to be more environmentally friendly than it really is.”

This shit gets scary. Why? Because you THINK you’re doing better for yourself and your family, and you THINK you can trust companies as professionals to actually give a shit. But unfortunately, you cannot. •

Raise your hand if you were completely taken advantage of by Mrs.meyers, st.ives, or even companies such as Trader Joe’s( this one hit me hard). •

It truly comes down to the fact that you CANNOT assume anything by the way a product looks. •

Did you know the term “essential oil,” or “natural,” is NOT regulated. That means anyone anywhere can just write that on their product...... and they can hope that their consumers don’t give a shit enough to learn better.... and sadly, a lot of us don’t. •

In 2010, 95% of products were guilty of greenwashing to some extent. The highest percentage was companies just being super vague with their products. •

These are the products that are in and on your bodies and in your air...... •

When my husband and I bought our first house we made the choice to do better. With our foods, with the products we buy, and with our lifestyle. I learned that our homes are practically all recycled air.. which means all of the chemicals are simply being recycled through our air vents over and over. I. Am. Not. Okay. With. This. •

We chose to do better. To be lifelong learners and to educate ourselves on what we are buying and using. 
It’s not always easy. It’s truly not. Especially in the beginning. BUT The term ignorance is NOT bliss. I hate the disappointment of losing the trust of a company I liked.... it’s a lesson learned and we do better next time. •

What can you swap out in your life that is non toxic? Where can you make the changes? Do better, cause you deserve better.
