Sally was the prettiest girl in town and she was proud of her silky purple hair. Sally knew she was beautiful but she wanted to become the most beautiful girl in the world. She thought if her hair grew longer she would become prettier and decided not to cut her hair. Soon Sally's hair grew so long that it was touching the ground. It was longer and heavier and Sally was dragging it behind her. She still did not want to cut her hair because she wanted to be prettier. Her hair grew longer and longer and spilled out of her bed onto her floor. Her cat happily rolled in it like a pillow. Soon her hair started to become annoying but Sally was stubborn and refused to cut it. Will Sally let it grow and grow or will she finally agree to cut it?
I Won't Cut My Hair! My Crazy Stories Series by Daniel Georges is adorable and I love the portrayal of Sally's character. Children can be stubborn many times while growing up and that makes Sally a real and relatable person. The story also stresses how it is important to be confident more than being pretty, and that shows clearly in how Sally's long hair ends up being a nightmare instead of making her look pretty. The illustrations by the author are vivid and wonderful, and I like how the color purple runs through the entire story. Children will enjoy reading this book and many of them will be able to relate to Sally. The entire series is good to have in a personal collection, and can be good for read aloud and story telling sessions in classrooms.
