Happy Washboard Wednesday!!! So, why not multitask, and hit those abs and upper quads along with those guns?  You will not be able to do as much weight with this and believe me, you won't need to.  You will feel it before your 4th set.  I would have put on some ankle weights, but forgot them and that would have just added to the fun here.  Anyway, change it up.  If you are short on time, find ways to do more full body. *

I can pull my own weight and then some! Lol!  Back day is my favorite training day!  It is really amazing when I think about how far I have come!  I wore a back brace for several years due to scoliosis from age 11 to 18.  When I was a kid, we didn't just wear a brace for a few hours a day, we were told to wear it all of the time except to shower.  Sleeping in it was brutal.  Hard plastic.  Running the mile in school on a sunny day, very brutal, because the plastic just held in my body heat and was so restrictive trying to breathe in it. *

After 7 long years of wearing it, I had lost any strength I had in my back.  I remember my parents finally had to throw it away, because as much as I hated wearing it...hated feeling different from other girls, and how I looked in it with my clothes, that were not stylish, but loose as not to show it as much, they constantly found me sitting in my room wearing it after I was taken out of it.  Why?  My back was so weak, it hurt to sit or move.  Physical therapy after treatment to strengthen my back??? Heck no! That just isn't how they did things then.  They know a lot more now, thank goodness, but I would deal with a weak back for years until my late 40's. *

It was in my late 40's, after going through the emotional distress of dealing with an assault, my fitness journey started.  I'm thankful every day for my iron paradise, and those who encouraged me along the way. I'm stronger at age 52 than I have ever been in my life, and fitness  kept a few people alive and me out of an orange jumpsuit... Orange... never a good color for me! Lol! So, where I was weakest, I'm probably the strongest now.  Let NOTHING break you!  Unleash your badass!  You have important things to do! *

Sorry for the late post.  It was a beautiful day outside, and I had to adult...like for hours.  Lol!  So I did get some play time outside with Winston, but it's back to work.  Accessory muscles...a good mini workout after my other workout, today, for which I was unable to get video of.  Just too may people in the gym.  It was my glute and leg day, so a good finisher with the bands around the ankles with this one.  I like to do the band pulls with one side for 15 reps then the other side.  This works lats and accessory muscles and the shoulder.  I am gaining my strength back from my torn lat and tricep gradually, and this will always be one of the exercises I do weekly while watching TV. (I can't sit still through a TV show. I'm in the final week of my two program mix up, been mashing up a lifting program with a HITT program for added ooomph! After this I'll jump back into week 5 of the weighted program and finish it off!!

My exercise today, a nice long walk with my dear childhood friend and hanging abs at the park.  It's funny, how being at this park where I went to as a child sparked the adventure in me.  Lol!  Yeah, I can still do some gymnastics moves, 4th frame, at age 52, but I have to admit, I felt every bit my age today trying this.  Vertigo...wow, yes, I decided against a swinging dismount.  Lol!  Tight!  My upper body felt so tight, I was afraid to go too fast from one part of the movement to the next.  I was having flashbacks of my torn lats and tricep.  Definitely something to consider working on in the future, but I need to improve my flexibility.  Sometimes less is more.  Know your limitations, but challenge yourself.  It's all about balance.  You have to find that in order to progress without injuring yourself.

Today was shoulders, abs, and calves day for me. One part I always lacked with training was my core. I never took time to train or focus on a strong core, so I have been focusing more on actually targeting my core and strengthening it to help with my heavier lifts and hopefully have a better developed core come my next competition. .
