Bench session went pretty swell yesterday. I did try to hit a PR of 50kg/110lbs but dayum that felt a lot heavier than I gave it credit for and sadly I didn’t make the lift - I probably could’ve done 47.5kg/105lbs though... Vid 1: 40kg/88lbs x 4

I’ll be honest with people, having my energy return back to normal is an amazing feeling, gives me that bit of confidence I need. Thankfully deadlifts seem to be coming back, I’ve really been struggling with them lately - it’s like my mind wants to go but my body does not. It’s really hard doing powerlifting when you’re exhausted, makes me wonder how the hell do people manage to do heavy cuts while still going ham. How do you do it? What’s your secret because I’ll be damned if I know, there was no way I’d be hitting any PRs during such a thing. People always make it look easy... when in reality it’s not but isn’t that always the case?
Either way, I’m currently taking a break, maybe I’ll put on a few pounds instead and just enjoy building a bit of muscle along with some extra energy. It’s not like I don’t like eating well...

It’s a cake. I made it myself. I love cake.
Even if training 5-6 times a week, eating healthy and living the fitness life, it’s okay to eat what you love. 
If you restrict something from yourself, you want to eat it more because you ”can’t” have it again. If you know you can eat it again, you don’t have the need to eat as much as you can. 
This cake tasted amazing, and I ate it again too. Incorporated with otherwise healthy eating habits, it is okay to eat the cake.🎂

One of the biggest conversations I have with people is if you should lift with heavy weight or light weight and if either is better than the other. Lifting both heavy and light weight is ideal to be a well functional, strong trainee and/or athlete as both have specific benefits the other doesn't really have. In the end, both will build muscle mass, but they give different benefits. Lifting heavy is your best way to build strength. There is no way around it. If you want to get stronger, you have to lift heavy.  Yes, lifting light can also have some strength benefits, but lifting heavy not only improve motor unit recruitment and rate coding, central nervous system adaptations, but also high threshold motor units that innervate type 2 muscle fibers which have the most potential for hypertrophy which in itself will lead to strength gains. When it comes to building explosive power, lifting heavy is often the answer because explosive power is expressing your strength quickly. Most of the time, just training strength can increase your power and speed in most people though power training is also needed where submaximal weight for explosive reps is needed; a time where light weight can also be beneficial as power training calls for lighter weight. With that being said, lighter weight does have the benefit of building muscular endurance much more than heavy weight and is better for a pump which can also lead to additional muscle growth through metabolic stress more so than heavy weight. Both heavy and light weight is important for gains and for getting all kinds of benefits to be a well-rounded trainee and athlete.

It could be football, basketball, rugby, boxing, jiu-jitsu or cycling. There are endless options, and if you don’t know what you like, try new things!
