Lunges are great for working all the major muscles of the hips, glutes, and thighs.
N.B take care to protect your knees from injury and not allow the front of your knee to extend forward past your toes.

So here’s a few tips to help your lunge technique ✅

Start with your feet shoulder width apart.

Keep your body upright, with your back straight and core tight.

Step out wide, Drop your back knee down towards the floor at roughly a 90 degree angle.

Keep your front knee behind your toes to again create a 90 degree angle.

Push off the the heel of the front foot and bring feet back together, repeat on the opposite side. -

Women are stronger in the legs than in any other body part. So we have no excuse for lagging legs!

📎The muscles of the quadriceps are designed to extend the knee joint and flex the hip joint.
⠀
📎Compound movements (Squat, Deadlift, Lunges) are great because they work all of the leg muscle groups. By flexing the hips and extending the knees in one movement, you're able to lift a lot more weight and you also save yourself time in the gym. Multi-joint exercises burn more calories and require more intensity. Make compound movements the staple of your leg workouts, and supplement them with isolation movements (Leg Extension, Leg Curl, Leg Abduction) to help shape the muscles.

📎Choose 2-3 compound movements and 2 isolation movements - one each for hamstrings and quadriceps - to ensure you are targeting all the muscles of the legs with enough resistance and intensity.
⠀
I like to stimulate new growth in size and strength by throwing in crazy high sets in the 50 rep range! Also I go down to a low of 2-4 reps on my heaviest sets of squats. Nothing builds strength and power better than this!

By flexing the hips and extending the knees in one movement, you're able to lift a lot more weight and you also save yourself time in the gym. Multi-joint exercises burn more calories and require more intensity. Make compound movements the staple of your leg workouts, and supplement them with isolation movements (Leg Extension, Leg Curl, Leg Abduction) to help shape the muscles.

📎Choose 2-3 compound movements and 2 isolation movements - one each for hamstrings and quadriceps - to ensure you are targeting all the muscles of the legs with enough resistance and intensity.

I like to stimulate new growth in size and strength by throwing in crazy high sets in the 50 rep range! Also I go down to a low of 2-4 reps on my heaviest sets of squats. Nothing builds strength and power better than this!

The lunge is a personal favourite of mine and I love introducing it and its variations in my training. ⁣
⁣
For today’s progression, I am going to stick to the Reverse lunge, but the same principles also apply to the Side Lunge/Lateral Squat.⁣
⁣
The lunge serves as one of the best ways to maintain/improve hip stability. Performing a unilateral movement such as the lunge also helps improve any imbalances one may have.⁣
⁣
While lunging, the gluteus play a stabilising role to ensure the pelvis is level and that the body remains upright and stable through the movement. A lot of this happens during the step back.⁣
⁣
If you’ve ever performed Lunges, be it reverse or side, you might have experienced some wobbliness in the knees and differing ranges of motion leading to an imbalanced movement.
⁣
Progressions from a Static lunge to a reverse lunge can be quite difficult, but having a slider makes it that much easier to transition. ⁣
⁣
Having a slider allows for a more stable position due to having another point of contact on the ground. I use sliders to help my trainees transition from double leg/bilateral training to unilateral/single leg training.⁣
⁣
In my personal experience with the sliders, I have noticed that my clients tend to perform the movement much better: much better ROM, consistent ROM, better balance and control with significantly heavier loads. All of this in addition to a better posture during the movement.⁣
⁣
Don’t have a slider? Use a small piece of cloth such as a pillow case/sock on a smooth surface instead and it will have pretty much a similar effect!⁣

However, it is a lot more demanding on the legs with the unilateral movements. Using a vest is an optional but if you cannot stay with large sets on each of the leg movements and consistent sets with short breaks on the push-ups, ditch the vest.

Als je samen bespreekt wat je doet en waarom, wat er werkt voor jou, kun je van een ander leren. Misschien hebben ze wel de gouden tip waar jij op zat te wachten! Je voelt je minder snel een klungel, waardoor je sneller moeilijke dingen durft te proberen. .

Als je vaak met dezelfde personen stukgaat, bouw je vanzelf een band op. Grappige oefeningen, horror-spierpijn verhalen delen.. Het wordt gezelliger met een leuke groep, waardoor je minder snel afzegt. Als zij op je wachten, kan jij toch niet wegblijven?

Wij zijn ontzettend trots op de community die wij samen met jou hebben gemaakt. Elke dag weer zien wij mensen nieuwe dingen proberen die zij eerder niet konden of durfden, dat is toch het mooiste wat er is? Op de foto zie je Yoris een lastige yoga-pose proberen van trainer Simone @unmeisjex .

On va la faire brève , il y a 140 kilos. Si tu penses à me faire une remarque sur la propreté du mouvement je t’invite à te cogner violemment la tête contre un mur en briques et ce à plusieurs reprises jusqu’à ce que mort s’en suive. 🤗
Je t’ai fait gagné du temps en te comptant la charge sur cette machine, ne me fait pas perdre le mien. ;)
