Bad quality video but the point is I’m back!!! I took two weeks off working out after I hurt my back. No cardio, no weights- just stretching when I was mostly pain free. I cut the weight I used for every exercise in half and am working my way back. The rest (which I expected to drive me crazy) was obviously super necessary and long overdue because I felt amazing both mentally and physically. I noticed had more energy, less cravings, and my body image wasn’t in the forefront of my mind. Coming back to weights was such a mind f*ck for me. Lifting less and having to be so careful when before I could do crazy exercises without a second thought. Our bodies can only take so much and this was a reminder that REST IS PART OF THE PROGRAM. These are absolute money for your quad development.
•
Take a box/step (you can’t tell I have plates stacked because the camera angle) and place it high enough that when you lunge backwards you get full ROM without any back rounding.
•
Lunge backwards with your weaker leg first as this will even out any strength imbalances. Try not to slam your knee into the ground and try to step back the same distance every time.
•
You can increase the weight on your working side first to even out the giant weight increases in dumbbells. So you’ll see my working side has 95lbs, and my non working side has 90lbs.

The cabe machine is so versatile, it's pretty much all you need for a great workout! I added a few moves with the weighted bar to switch it up.

Today I focused on the back side: hamstrings, glutes, back.💪

You can do these moves at home by replacing the cable machine with resistance bands.

Too many times I see people on here (that I know in real life) faking their workouts for likes and attention(reason I refuse to put ‘fit’ in my name) They’ll post a 5-10 second clip of an exercise THEY CANT DO but pretend they did they full workout in their description. Or my personal favorite (sauna,sweat,post pictures with weights like you lifted.) Post nothing but PRs and lie their ass off “people have been asking me about my etc.” becoming healthy mentally and physically is hard fucking work and it’s more than gym shark clothing and expensive supplements.

👉🏼Skater lunge: 3 x 1 min // I slowly work on maximizing my lateral distance in this video, take a second to plant the foot on the ground in order to work the glutes. 👉🏼Back lunge + sumo squat: 3 x 10 each // feet wider than the hips when you perform sumo squat and keep your chest tall throughout the movement.
👉🏼Back lunge + hop: 3 x 10 each // harder than it looks, driving through the foot on the ground to bring your body up into a jump, keep the body in a straight line.
👉🏼Skip lateral lunge: 3 x 1 min // touching one hand to opposite foot as you lateral lunge.

Went old school again tonight with #p90xlegsandback and I think I died a few times. I did all the reps and didn't take any breaks. It's been years since I did this workout . Went old school again tonight with #p90xlegsandback and I think I died a few times. I did all the reps and didn't take any breaks. It's been years since I did this workout . Monday,Wednesday and fridays I add double days to lift in the night. Finishing off the last week of #transform20 this week. The humble step up is a forgotten  exercise by most people as it’s not sexy enough like the squat and deadlift. ⁣

But this little beauty is a must in a large % of the populations program. ⁣
⁣
Why I believe this...⁣
⁣
It’s simple to do - unless you live in a bungalow everyone has stairs to climb so the skill is easily transferable. ⁣
⁣
Body parts don’t really get in the way - this is actually pretty crucial. If you have a large waistline your belly might get in the way with exercises like the leg press. Which means even thought you can get plenty of depth your belly restricts it. Which means you may alter your body shape to hit that depth. ⁣
⁣
Can be progressed and regressed easily - by height and load. ⁣
⁣
Improves balance and coordination, ligament strength etc - due to have to use one foot at a time.⁣
⁣
Can transferred  to sport - explosive stand up can be transferred to jumping, sprinting etc ⁣
⁣
Core training - depending on where you place the load abs (trunk) will need to work more. ⁣
⁣
So you can see there is more than meets the eye to this very simple exercise and I’ve probably only just scratched the surface.
