1.Energy Imbalance.

In simple term, it eating too much. Too many calories coming in compared to what your body is putting out. The number 1 key cause for people gaining weight.

2. Decreased physical activity.
.
Being sedentary, not moving is another major cause of people gaining weight. If you a sedentary at the moment 1 way to kick start fat loss is to start doing some form of exercise. Get off your butt and start moving it's as simple as that.
3. Increased reliance on processed foods.
.
Another big thing causing major weight gain. Processed foods are calorie dense meaning they tend to have heaps of calories in them. When trying to lose fat eating, these types of food will more than likely put you in a calorie surplus which will, in turn, cause weight gain. Simply remove these from your diet and replace with more nutrient-dense food. This will lead to fat loss.

4. Weekend binge eating.

This is where a lot of people fail. Doing do well during the week and then letting all there hard work go out the window at the weekend. Even though you may be in a calorie deficit during the week when binge eating at the weekend this will put you in a calorie surplus for the week leading to weight gain.

5. Drinking your calories.

People often overlook this. The problem is people don't realize how many calories are in the things they are drinking. These sugar laden with drinks fruit juices, soft drinks and your Starbucks coffee often maintain way more calories than you realize. On top of that alcohol consumption will most certainly contribute to weight gain as most alcohol is calorie dense.
