La masse est clairement un outil "badass". Mais comme tous les outils ce qui importe c'est "comment" et "pourquoi" on l'utilise.

Quelle intention y mettons-nous?

Sensibilisation au déséquilibre, recherche d'un improbable contrôle, conscience du corps, conscience des mouvements engendrés ainsi que de leur prolongation, pratique assidue et sécurité sont les points clés de son utilisation. "Improbable contrôle"? Oui en remettant en question et en affinant constamment nos mouvements nous nous permettons de densifier la complexité de notre pratique et donc de ne jamais vraiment avoir un contrôle total.

Car en suivant un schéma, une pratique bien orchestrée nous évoluons au travers de mouvements connus et répétés. Il est donc impératif que nos réactions puissent évoluer. 
A chaque étape nous implémentons une complexité supplémentaire pour toujours évoluer, amener du chaos afin de progresser petit à petit pour développer nos habiletés et notre capacité d'amélioration.

Vouloir sauter 5 marches à la fois alors que nous peinons déjà à en faire 3 est un signe d'impatience, de manque de connaissance de soi et de nos capacités au moment "T". La masse aussi légère soit-elle, est un outil qui oblige les plus téméraires et les plus forts à se confronter à leurs failles et autre déséquilibres. 
C'est cela qui en fait un compagnon, complémentaire, attrayant mais aussi imprévisible. Sa seule prise en main amène à ravaler son orgueil et à revoir nos ambitions.

📝For some odd reason we as a medical community decided to label elbow injures as golf and tennis elbow… the reality is you can get elbow pain lifting, gardening, and just living life.
.
📍One important aspect of elbow health that is sometimes forgotten is ensuring you have adequate supination and pronation of your forearm and wrist. This exercise will help to both evaluate and treat that range of motion.
.
📌If you’re currently in pain, start with something light- maybe a broomstick and just work through the motion. Use your other hand to help if the pain increases. If that still hurts, just try holds in place for now and progressively work back into full range of motion.
.
📎I’ve had elbow pain on both arms before and I know a lot of lifters that have. I like to do these exercises every now and then just to keep everything moving well and to keep those pesky forearm tendons in check. This work is great for baseball players as well.

Want to give this side plank variation a go?

Start in side plank. Lift the top leg as to go in into wild thing, or Camatkarasana. Squeeze your heel tightly into the glute, then reach the top arm away from the lifted leg and around the bottom hip to grab the foot of the lifted leg. Once you have the top foot, begin to square your hips off to the ceiling or sky while maintaining the engagement of the bottom arm and keeping the pressure active onto the outer blade of the bottom foot. 
Give that a go! Disclaimer, it is pretty challenging lol.

✨ In University, I took a summer long Ceramic elective (my major was Psychology but all my electives where art!). It was the hardest medium I’ve ever tried. I didn’t have the patience. I hated the mud in my nails and how things would just crumble and fall. •
The other day, doing my home practice, it dawns on me how my body was like the sculptor’s stone or that stubborn clay I used that summer. 
There’s a quote from sculptor Tony Angell that resonated with this: “Because of its shape, color, pattern and hardness, the stone has its own story to tell. Only when I understand this can I remove the non-essentials and begin to liberate the form within.” •
My life has its own story to tell. This is the Abracadabra magic of it all. The story you tell yourself has the power to manifest into reality. Will I let it or fight with it? Will I remove piece by piece, cut by cut all the non-essential materials and begin? Can I get out my own way?  Magic doesn’t require anyone to intervene on your behalf, give you permission, prove something or (low and behold) have a degree. We have it somewheres buried in us to lean into our weaknesses and reframe those into our strengths. For me, that’s what it means to live life triumphantly.

Magic is stepping into the story’s mystery day after day. Let its secrets and sparkles unfold through us. Don’t you see? Magic isn’t an event, it’s a muscle!

Last restorative yoga session was about chakra’s. At the asana’s for my second chakra I started to feel very frustrated and angry. What did that feeling wanted to tell me? Is it coincidence that it was almost full moon?
So I practiced again and asked myself where the anger came from. All of a sudden a bunch of unreleased pain and emotions appeared. I didn’t resist but let it come as I talked to my inner guide. It is that little voice that sounds wise, loving and caring. It is not the voice that is telling you that you suck or have to fight or run away, that is the ego.

I let go of the pain by breathing it out and forgiving what needed to be forgiven, meditated in the moonlight and asked everything I needed to know. 
It sounds easy, but it took me years to get there and to push my ego away. I adore the wise voice inside of me and hope to hear her all the time.... Did you already make contact with your inner guide? What questions do you ask? What do you hear? -

I spent my entire athletic career training my muscles. Relentlessly chasing this thing everyone called strength!

What I didn’t know at the time is that muscles are servants to the visual system! I was already strong but my visual system was lousy!
▫️
What does that mean?
▫️
It means that muscles take commands from higher order systems. Such as the eyes! 👀
▫️
The visual system reflexively speaks to our muscles and helps to set their tone during movement!
▫️
Performance comes down to this...
▫️ SEE 👉🏻DECIDE👉🏻ACT
The faster we can see something and obtain meaning from it, the faster we can make decisions and act on it!
▫️
Final message 👉🏻 get freaking strong! but don’t forget that being able to fully access that strength is based on the health of higher order systems like your eyes!
▫️

It’s too easy to get wrapped up with exercises using different pieces of equipment and expecting different results. This way of thinking as a #fitpro does not allow for genuine learning and ends up costing more money than investing in mastering your craft.

What do I mean? A #deadlift by any other name is still a deadlift. However if we can understand the importance of training hip hinges as movements, and not deadlifts as exercises, we will experience a whole lot more freedom in our training repertoire true story .

This line of thinking includes the other movement patterns from pressing to pulling and squatting and lunging and more. Just look at these three videos taken from our session earlier today, you will see movements trained in different planes of motion and using the multi-functional #ultimatesandbag and this is why I’m 100% head over heels for the DVRT system! ⚡️Here’s a nice little series of some dynamic mobility. The T-spine and hips on myself tend to be “tight/stiff” so I try to target them as often as I can ✔️.

⚡️Starting off with 3-way hip opener. Moving in 3-different motions (straight forward, forward-side and then side) feeling for areas of tightness that are most for me. .
⚡️Half kneeling overhead (OH) raise. A good one for not only the hip flexor/front line but also for active T-spine extension. Being careful here not to over extend from the low back.

⚡️Finishing off with half kneeling T-spine rotation. I like this variation to “lock” the lumbar segments (via hip flexion/staggered stance) to bias the T-spine in this case. .

Il ponte da supino è un esercizio inestimabile che dà una tripla enfasi: ai glutei, agli ischiocrurali e al torso. Sviluppa la forza e la funzione dei glutei e degli ischiocrurali, e insegna anche la differenza critica fra il range articolare delle anche e della colonna vertebrale.

L'abilità di distinguere tra il movimento delle anche e della colonna è uno degli obiettivi più importanti della progressione degli esercizi supini, dato che molto spesso è facile impiegare in maniera scorretta più range articolare a livello della colonna lombare che delle anche.

Il ponte è pertanto sia un esercizo che un test. Se qualcuno, durante l'esecuzione, sperimantasse crampi agli ischiocrurali, molto probabilmente ci troveremo in uno stato di inibizione della funzione glutea (amnesia glutea). GOTTA GET A BIT SAVAGE SOMETIMES 👹😈 💯  It's all about "HIITing" THE RIGHT INTENSITY😉😅💪🏼👊🏼
I have spoken about the necessity of spending time in "underload" where the intensity lower and you are reinforcing your strength adaptations BUT that doesn't mean high intensity is fully replaced. You still need enough time in "overload" to drive the initial adaptations to greater levels. •
The fact is, when programming is optimal, you really don't need to do much total HIIT training.. Only very few get it optimal though.. Basically If you want the most out of HIIT, it's not about high frequency. It's about exactly what the name implies 👉🏼HIGH👈🏼 intensity! You must understand 👉🏼That means you need to completely empty the tank! 💯Floor yourself!😫😫 YEP that's right - It should take you quite some time to truly be recovered from it. If you go at 70% and expect 100% of the results.. well you get it 😉

Start with position one where the opposite leg is bent and then progress by straightening the opposite leg. Focus on keeping the low back & tailbone glued to the ground the entire time. Passively pull your leg into hip flexion and then release the hand and actively work to hold the position. Squeeze for 2-3 seconds then reset by pulling the leg back up. Perform 3 sets of 5-10 reps and enjoy those hip gains!

🔺Shoulder Controlled Articular Rotations🔺

Again, these are essential!
.
Ball and socket joints like the shoulder and hip really need to be put through their full range of motion as often as possible using a circumduction type movement.
.
This is where Controlled Articular Rotations (CARs) really stand out as one of the best exercise you can do!!
.
Now of course all joints need to be put through the full range of motion as often as possible, but it’s extra important the shoulder and hip to use these circumduction type movements...
.
Basically you should be doing these movements as often as you’re brushing your teeth, so daily!
.
Some common points👇🏻
.
1️⃣ - Build tension through irradiation before you start. If the goal is to try to move just one joint in your body, contracting everything else will make this easier.
.
2️⃣ - Go slow. I would normally do them slower, but with Instagram there is limited time to do the demonstration in. The more time you spend in each part of the rotation, the more awareness and information your building about that position.
.
3️⃣ - Just start by trying to do the biggest possible circle that you can do without sacrificing form. Don’t worry if it’s not perfect to begin with, any movement of the joint is beneficial!
.
4️⃣ - Make sure you don’t force into any pinching or pain. If you feel discomfort, back 10% away from that position, and simply avoid that particular part of the rotation. But it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t avoid this exercise completely.
.
So make sure you tag a mate with any shoulder, upper back, elbow, wrist or neck pain, and they really, really need this. Everyone else just really needs it!!!
