Because the yolk was included in the whole eggs treatment, this treatment had 17 grams of extra fat. . 💪🏻Whole eggs stimulated muscle protein synthesis more compared to the egg whites. . 🧐There is no clear explanation for the difference. The higher energy intake and insulin response in the whole egg group are unlikely explanations (3). Fat intake was also higher, but its role on muscle protein synthesis is unclear (4).

Most men can naturally gain 40 to 50 pounds of muscle in their lifetimes, and most women can naturally gain 20 to 25 pounds.

Research shows that you can use the circumference of your wrists and ankles to predict how much muscle you can gain naturally.

It takes at least 4 to 5 years of proper dieting and training to approach your genetic potential for whole-body muscularity.

Year one will always be your best year for gaining muscle. Then things slow down fairly rapidly. The gains start to get cut in half for the next few years until they become pretty miniscule after year five.  That’s reality. However, like every other muscle - your abdominals need to be trained with load and tension if you want them to develop. 💪⁠

Take the  Cable Crunch for instance demonstrated here - like any other exercise when broken down - we first look at what should be moving and what shouldn’t. ⁠

Here, the Rectus Abdominis contracts to flex the spine, not the hips -  this is something that shouldn’t move but typically does.⁠

A great tip is to squeeze your Glutes throughout to avoid movement in the hips. ⁠

We can also alter the profile of the exercise to change where it is most challenging by a simple switch :⁠
👉Facing the pulley will make the exercise harder at the fully contracted/shortest part of the rep.⁠
👈Whilst facing away from the pulley means it will be easier in this contracted position. ⁠

Exercise of the Week - Standing One Arm Plate Loaded Row

Unilateral rows are among some of my favorite back exercises, regardless of your goal. Few exercises take the lats through an entire range of motion than single-arm rows; with this variation probably being my most favorite.

The reason I love the standing single-arm variation the best is because it maximizes tension in the lats through the entire range of motion. With a lot of other machine row variations, your ability to maximize the tension in both the short and long muscle position is limited by the design of the machine; either limiting the emphasis on the stretch, the contraction, or both.

With this variation, not only can you bring the weight all the way to the body - maximizing the contraction - but you can overload the stretch as well with no let-off in tension.

Regardless of your goal, optimizing muscle mechanics, loading, and maximizing tension should be key focuses of any training program if you want to get the most out of it.

When working on losing weight or building muscle, there are LOTS of different ways to track your progress. One of the best is simply this - How are your clothes fitting?

It wasn't too long ago that tank-tops like this were skin-tight around my mid-section. For the past several months though I've been focused on losing body fat, and look at that - they're fitting loose now!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Pants are all pretty loose now too! A while back I had to drill a new hole in my old belt, and a while after that, I had to buy a new belt altogether! The last couple pairs of pants / shorts I've bought have been a smaller size, and various shirts that used to be tight are now fitting loose.

Progress is being made!!

Overload the muscle group through contraction tension and focus rather than moving up in weight and losing quality of  reps. Give this a go you will not regret it !

2️⃣ 𝗪𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐢𝐧 - This is a very common supplement that provides anywhere from 20g-35g of protein per serving depending on the brand. This is researched to be one of the safest and most used supplements in the world. It is said to help with increasing muscle mass, increase strength, and losing body fat. This is perfect for mixing with milk and any kind of fruit to make a protein shake!⁣

3️⃣ 𝐏𝐫𝐞 𝗪𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐨𝐮𝐭 - There are tons of pre workouts available in the market. Some are better than others but I personally love @ghostlifestyle pre workout. Many different great flavors to choose from. I usually take 1-2 scoops of the ‘Pump’ and 1 scoop of the ‘Legend’ 20-30 minutes before I workout. The ‘Pump’ has ingredients such as L-Citrulline and Arginine Nitrate that simply help with getting a better pump in the gym. 3️⃣ 𝐏𝐫𝐞 𝗪𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐨𝐮𝐭 - There are tons of pre workouts available in the market. Some are better than others but I personally love @ghostlifestyle pre workout. Many different great flavors to choose from. I usually take 1-2 scoops of the ‘Pump’ and 1 scoop of the ‘Legend’ 20-30 minutes before I workout. The ‘Pump’ has ingredients such as L-Citrulline and Arginine Nitrate that simply help with getting a better pump in the gym. The ‘Legend’ has ingredients such as Caffeine and Taurine that help with high energy levels at the gym. ⁣
