POSTPARTUM SHEDDING! Let’s talk!
As most of you know, I have a 4 (almost 5) month old baby boy and my #postpartumshedding has been real! Here is what I do to combat it:
👣 I am breastfeeding so I still take my prenatals daily
👣 I have sickle cell trait so I take an iron supplement 3-5x/week
👣 I take a hair, skin & nails vitamin gummies daily (they taste delicious and I’ve noticed benefits even before pregnancy
👣 I take calcium supplements [since I don’t consume dairy at all]
👣 I drink my water and mind my business 🍵 ..
Postpartum shedding is NATURAL and it happened with my first son as well. I did not shed one hair during pregnancy so I knew I was living off of borrowed time 😂😂😂
Once it started, my hair was falling out in clumps!! My scalp around my edges was sore and I was certain I was going to go bald! It’s important to be VERY GENTLE with your hair as it is in a very fragile state. Low manipulations styles are best and absolutely no stress on your edges!
💁🏾♀️ For the entire month of February I wore my hair in Felicia braids and a phony pony. ✋🏾 Oh! And try to ::gently:: remove as many shed hairs as possible BEFORE shampooing. I’ve actually turned to clay washes instead of shampoo until the shedding subsides. 💗 It WILL grow back, you don’t need a magic oil, you just need patience and care.
Oh and CONGRATULATIONS on your new bundle of joy. 🤗♥️🤱🏾
