Mobility + Stability + Strength = Overhead Squat 🏋🏽‍♂️. ▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️ Catch was a bit sloppy with the top set though, so need to work on maintaining tension in the shoulder blade and deep spinal stabilizers 🤔.

in honor of EARTH DAY I just wanted to update my #EFEvolutions earlier in April I vowed to start going out and enjoying nature at least once a week and sooo far I’ve be on numerous trails, hiked a mountain and did the incline, which is a mile up the side of a mountain and a four mile trail to get down!! Thank God for revival😵 I’d love everyone to come up with a #EFEvolutions dedicated to bettering yourself!! Built myself a platform! Nice new addition to the #garagegym #diy #olympicweightlifting

Decided to throw on the belt to see what was up with my brace after putting more effort into proper bracing.
~
My core training has changed up from planks and the lifts to train my core, to direct work such as palloff press and farmers walks.
~
One of the biggest things I have noticed was being able to hold a strong brace throughout each rep. However it took everything out of me 😰.
~
The goal going forward is to keep paying more close attention to my core work. The core is your base of stability for heavy lifts in squat and deadlift.

There are a few stretches in our Flexibility program at ATG that are more challenging for me than others, the Seated Pancake is definitely one of them.  For those on our program that find themselves having more difficulties in certain areas, spend more time there.  Having proper balance and flexibility is key to reaching all the ATG targets and building on them.  Make sure you don’t do ABS right before this stretch or you’ll catch a mean cramp like I did! 🤯... ————————————————-

2 - do 2 sets of 10 reps on each side as part of or as your warm up before your next workout.
3 - do both and help your body warm up for the day and stretch the stress of the day away before you push your limits.

Also, it was my first time doing front squats with chains⛓🏋🏾‍♀️⛓...they were heavy and wobbly. Not a fan- which means they will be popping up often. After 10 days of hard hiking, walking, touring and sightseeing,  snatching may not be pretty but still doable. I had so much fun today training at @crossfitcusco with @carols89 and @ruski_voz at an altitude of 3500 km above see level. I was a bit scared but soon I realised that breathing and keeping calm is always a good strategy! Still I have to fix my wobbly catch position but I will blame the altitude this time🤣🤣🤣🤣!

If you can get over the fact that you have to walk through a food court to access this gym, and the scent of Chinese food is wafting into your nostrils while working out, then perhaps you can call this gym home.

I actually really like the layout of this gym with its sunken main area. They're still working on adding a couple things, like a spin studio and a steam room. They currently have most of the equipment that you'd look for in a fitness centre, and it looks clean and fresh in the gym area, but there are a few drawbacks.

I asked if I could drop the bumper plates when doing Olympic weightlifting, and the lady at the desk said no, because a lot of people don't like the noise. I've gotten to the point where I'm no longer surprised by this. BUT the thing that annoyed me was that somebody was using battle ropes upstairs and it sounded like they were playing the bongos (because of the seemingly hollow flooring it was hitting and the way the noise bounced around in the gym). Why is that allowed, but dropping bumper plates isn't? 🤔

Their change rooms were also really weirdly laid out.. like they just kept punching holes into additional rooms.

When working on mobility, it is important to focus on positions that you don’t regularly spend a lot of time in. The adductors, or groin muscles, are a classic example of a muscle group that does not get a lot of attention in everyday life.

Since the adductors play a major role in hip and knee function, it is important to keep them limbered up. You can use an exercise like the ADDUCTOR PUSH BACK to help!
•
As I mention in the video, the key to maximizing the stretch in the groin is maintaining a neutral spine and not letting your hips curl underneath you as you’re pushing back and forth.
•
For those with tight hips, you may be surprised at how significant the stretch is and how little range of motion you have. For those with good mobility, you can increase the stretch by elevating the foot of your straight leg, or by moving your straight leg forward a bit.
•
Make sure you are taking your time and breathing deep throughout the motion. Use these as a part of your warm-up or for daily joint/tissue maintenance to help keep your hips and knees performing at their fullest 💪🏼
