I have never seen a happier mantis than when my sweet baby Odie destroyed the aphids in this peony. 🖤 This photo ended up in my “Chase the Luck” collage which was donated to @photocenternw to raise funds! Happy to report it sold quickly. 🔴

Y’all know I love my art + science! I’m thrilled to share my art and practice at the next @pacsci at night event. (I’m also treating it as an unofficial birthday party - so my friend’s better show up!) ———————————————————————— Tickets can be found via the link in my bio. Wear something sparkly and party at PSC with me! 21+ only.

“Chase the Luck” made in 48hours for @photocenternw #chasethelight2019 - it’s like 3:30am and I’m cranky and can’t see straight, so someone better buy this thing and give PCNW a ton of money. ————————————————————————
Made entirely from a bouquet I bought from the market Saturday morning, and of course my sweet baby mantis friends. ✨ Inspired by a photo my friend @ellles_bellls sent me of her own hand, because I guess she’s my muse now? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ———————————————————————— I’m still keeping it low key in the social media thing, just popping in quickly to let you know I did the damn thing. 🖤 Thanks for being understanding with me making a bit of space. I’ll be back soon. ———————————————————————— Ps. All nighters in your thirty’s are doozies. #allhailcoffee

That’s a wrap! Tonight at 6pm, Earthly Delights moves on. Thank you, everyone, who came to see the flower ghosts that live inside my head. ———————————————————————— I had family and friends visit from out of state, people find my work for the first time thanks to the positive press reviews, photography students hold class in the gallery about MY (!!?) work and strangers walk off the street see themselves a bit in the unfamiliar faces of my sassy flower ladies. ———————————————————————— And many of you adopted a piece, and I’m forever grateful. ✨ ———————————————————————— With the success of this show behind me, I’m ready to lay low and work on what comes next. I’ll be taking a social media sabbatical to recharge. I’m easy to find if you need me via my website. (Or just yell “free flowers” in Seattle, and I’m sure I’ll find you within the hour.) ———————————————————————— And with that, remember to pursue what you love and make good choices, or make bad ones then work hard to redeem yourself later. ———————————————————————— See you on the flip side. // Photo by @catdossett

Ps. Make sure to give both @core.gallery.seattle and @jrinehartgallery a follow to keep up!

Detail of “Heretic” - there’s a reason I gave you magnifying glasses to examine the work with. 🙃
———————————————————————— Come by today! I’ll be at @core.gallery.seattle and would love to chat flower art with you. :) #mj_earthlydelights // #growingmyownartsupplies

Life Hack: make up a job that allows you to hang out with bugs, flowers and an elderly schnauzer all day. ———————————————————————— Columbine from @mya_kerner_art’s garden. #friendsgrowingmyartsupplies

Also, happy #worldbeeday 🐝✨
———————————————————————— One of my favorite things about bees, is that they don’t just wake up knowing how to be a bee and make honey. They are taught by their elder bees, and will go on to teach the later generations. Just like us, they need guidance and help to be successful. ———————————————————————— “Queen Bee” is full of bees from my own garden’s hives. We have some saucy girls, but I love them.

Thank you to my friends who encouraged me to continue pursuing my first installation. I’m really proud of what I made. And I was 95% ready to trash the idea over fear a few short months ago. Now I can’t stop thinking of new ideas of what to do next. ———————————————————————— So thanks @wevebeenherebefore who gave me multiple pep talks, and @mya_kerner_art who essentially made the entire thing safe and helped me finesse the final touches. (And @cockeyed.weirdbeard figured out how to transport them in the cheap.) ———————————————————————— The world is big and weird and there’s much bigger problems then art logistics, but I sure am glad I have these people on my side, cheering me on. ✨
———————————————————————— “Efflorescent” is on public view for only three more days (!!!) at @core.gallery.seattle. Come visit Weds-Saturday this week, or forever hold your peace. :)

Y’all I can’t believe it but May 25th is right around the corner! So much work and heart went into my show at @core.gallery.seattle, if you haven’t yet, please take a peek into the strange flowery world inside my head. And thank you to each of you who has visited and shared space with me. ———————————————————————— This lovely double exposure is a mix of my invite and the install itself, by @catdossett. ✨

Earthly Delights is coming down shortly, and while you will have opportunities to see these prints again, you won't get the chance to see "Efflorescent" a site-specific installation made just for @core.gallery.seattle. ————————————————————————
There aren't many tree-lined streets left in this city, so the shifting dappled light in that space is a gem. I wanted to play with it and make it look like a wild garden was growing where the sun hit the wall. I hid details throughout the space, the more you look, the more story there is to find. ————————————————————————
This is my first installation, but not my last. That said, if you want to see "Efflorescent" I'd make a trip soon, its last day is May 25th; CORE is open Weds-Sat 12-6pm, but we can schedule a private viewing to fit your schedule. Just message me. (Btw, the best light is late afternoon, around 5 pm.) ————————————————————————
Special thanks to @mya_kerner_art, for helping my scared-of-ladders self get this artwork high on the wall, for figuring out a new mounting system when mine failed, for pep talks, for just existing and for letting me hang out with Umakins. ily! ————————————————————————
ps. Better photos of the installation coming soon, I haven't had time to document it properly yet.
