You might think all dried fruit is healthy, but you should watch out for many store-bought varieties that pack tons of added sugar. This delicious and satisfying at-home version calls for apples and cinnamon – that’s it! Just slice your favorite kind of apple, sprinkle with cinnamon and bake for 2 hours at 225°. Bada bing, bada apple chips! 🍏🍎

Poor bread. It just wants to be loved (and eaten). With the rise in low-carb diets in recent years, bread has gotten a bad rap – and left on grocery store shelves to grow mold. And although all bread types are getting vilified by the anti-carb crowd, we want to give it another chance. With the right approach and education, bread (and all carbs) can be a balanced part of healthy diet. You just have to know what to look for! Check out the graphic above for a glimpse at the nutritional differences between white and 100% whole wheat bread, and then click the link in our profile to learn more about how bread can still fit into your life … because, well, everyone needs a grilled cheese/breadstick/French toast every once in a while.

“I knew this was not how I was supposed to look,” she says. “If I kept going the way I was, I knew I would become seriously ill.”
.
As a busy and stressed out college student, Molly Agnew struggled to deal with challenges of an unfamiliar environment and schedule. To make matters worse, her mental health was suffering, so wasn’t up for much activity or exercise. To help cope, she turned to food, often eating nothing throughout the day and then binging later. “I came home from college every day, took a nap, woke up and then overindulged in food,” she remembers. By age 21, she had reached 238 pounds. She remembers her turning point came one day as she took a long look in the mirror, fearing she was going down a dark path to serious health problems. She signed up for a weight-loss clinic, where she was immediately put on a very low-calorie diet and high-exercise program. The results were shocking – she lost 84 pounds in just 9 months. Unfortunately, she wasn’t feeling well. Her energy levels dipped and she was constantly getting sick with colds. She had also reached a plateau and wasn’t making any progress. After a trainer at her gym told her about MyFitnessPal, she decided to try it – and was surprised when MFP gave her a much higher daily calorie limit than she was allowed with her current plan. To her astonishment, not only did she not gain weight, but she finally pushed past her long-standing plateau. Her energy levels soared, her mood was lifted and she was able to properly fuel her workouts. Now, she warns about the dangers of very low-calorie diets and encourages people to find activities they love. “Exercise helps me moderate my moods when I feel in need of a boost,” she says. “I absolutely love going for walks and listening to podcasts. I enjoy training in the gym, going for bike rides and swimming occasionally. Do it for yourself.”
