Happy Sunday everyone. We're excited to introduce you to Emersyn. Emersyn is the sweet lady behind Cards for Kids and she is inspiring us all with her goal to send 1,000 Smiles to children at Ronald McDonald House before her graduation at the end of this month. We wanted to share a little more about Emersyn and how she's using her crafting talent (and her Cricut) to change the world.
Emersyn started making Smiles (happy cards for others) when she was 8 years old. She had read a story about a young boy named Max who had cancer. His family was asking for cards to cheer him up and she knew this was something she could do. She brought supplies and his story to her teacher and together with her class they made cards for Max and her mom helped her send them to him. This made her so happy to have made a difference in Max's life she started searching for more children who could use a Smile to send her cards to. Two years later she started her Facebook group Cards for Kids.
While Emersyn has done many things to help other people (she's collected and sent thousands of fun socks to hospitals for children, collected and sent thousands of oral hygiene kits to children's hospitals and homeless shelters, and so much more) her favorite project is making cards. She loves that something as simple as a card can make a difference in someone's life and it's something that anyone can do.
Emersyn said that while she may not have understood when she first started sending her smiles what a difference it could make, as she has grown older sending smiles to children has changed her life because her greatest joy is giving to others and making a difference one smile at a time.
We are so happy to know Emersyn and thankful that she has shared her story with us. If you'd like to help Emersyn with her goal of 1,000 Smiles by the end of the month please visit her Facebook group Cards for Kids to find out more.
