What's better than a foggy Saturday evening to talk a bit more about a little song called Backwards?
Let's introduce it! It's our debut single, and you can listen to it on all the platforms, but the most interesting aspect about this song is its history.
The first idea comes from a motif that has been wandering in my mind for a few years, (the guitar intro), but it took me only three afternoons to record it.
A lot of ideas came out until I eventually found the right formula to make it a song.
The minimal intro came out almost randomly: the initial concept was to make an acoustic pop song, something which should have sounded something like Blur, then the drum machine came in, and everything changed.
The whole song has been built to make things sound nothing like they should. Every take has been manipulated, every sound heavily processed, so guitars have been treated like synths, strings became pads, and drums were replaced by a little analog Korg box. Even the bass (which is a Precision bass) has been manipulated to sound like a synth.
At the end of the day the only thing that sounds like it was originally intended is the acoustic guitar, which gives the song its whispery sound.
Will talk about the lyrics another day, stay connected!
