COMMUNITY :: Meditation is a breathing, moving and flowing practice. It morphs to each individual person, shows them where they could use more support or healing. While also shining the light on who they really are. In short, meditation meets YOU where you are at - there isn’t any other way around it.
What’s equally as beautiful is that while meditation is an individual journey it is also a practice meant to be witnessed by others. When a community forms around an individuals practice it gives each unique person the opportunity to deepen in meditation and allows their heart and mind be seen and held by their fellow meditating friends.
So often when I am meditating with others, or with a group on retreat, there is a moment when “group-mind” takes over. Because you are meditating in silence you don’t need to say a thing or know all of the exact details, you just know that you are supported, encouraged and respected. One persons courage to meet their own demons catches like internal fire within everyone. Shed tears are felt by the whole group. Space is held with compassion and without judgment - after all, we are ALL just humans healing and showing up to our lives in the very best way we can.
I have been both a solo-meditator along the path and have had the honor of meditating with hundreds of others at once. And I have to say, there is something really special about being able to share time and space, and your mind and heart with someone else without a single word being said or exchanged. Sometimes the strongest of bonds and the deepest heart-felt support comes from the inner waters of silence♥️
