#44 – Fun Things To Do In Batam
#LIQUIDWEEKENDS A short 40 minutes ferry ride away, Batam in Indonesia’s Riau archipelago is a popular destination for a weekend getaway. This small island is popular with Singaporeans for its tropical beaches, relaxing resorts, exciting retail therapy, vibrant nightlife and the nation’s favourite indulgence – eating! If you are a water sports lover, Batam has an array of water activities like snorkeling, canoeing and jet skiing that you can engage in. You can also enjoy a game of golf at one of the seven golf courses around the island.
If you are not into sports, you can opt for some retail therapy at The Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall, Mega Mall Batam and the BCS Mall. Rejuvenate after the shopping with some soothing treatments from one of the spas that’s readily available on the island. Then dine on freshly caught seafood and signature dishes such as chilli or pepper crabs, huge and juicy prawns and crispy calamari at one of the popular seafood restaurants.
Wind down and relax at Nongsa Beach, one of the best beaches in Batam. Watch the sunset and enjoy some peace and quiet as the world goes by. Otherwise, embrace the nightlife and visit the Nagoya Entertainment District and chill the night away at a pub.
