I love this quote - it resonates so fully for me. And connects me directly to my movement and sound practices... It is only in silence that we can truly sense/feel/hear what is going on for us. Without this clear and refined connection to ourselves we will only ever move out of habit, along deeply ingrained lines, repeating familiar patterns. In silence we can connect to a greater sense of space inside and outside of ourselves. Movement occurs in space. The greater sense of space we have, the wider the choice of movement there is. And if we can choose, it means that we do not have to always follow the same pathways, but can explore new ones, discovering new possibilities of moving and sounding... of being.
So how do we develop and become familiar with this space of silence in our daily lives? How do we find a place of calm on the inside of ourselves that permits us to listen more gently, more clearly? This is certainly my biggest challenge!
But perhaps just to stop for a few seconds and listen, to notice and to receive, to savour and let whatever is there breathe - even if only for a few seconds - it is a start at least.
And maybe in that brief moment of listening, of connecting, of breathing I/you/we can feel the amazing, unique and fascinating dance and song that lives within each of us - a few moments at a time. And perhaps that is enough - just enough - to start to feel how potent one's innate creativity is, and that there will be a time when it finds full expression in the world... #paris #montreuil #dance #danse #creativity #expressyourself #move #singing #meditation
