Dear Hopeless Romantic,
Once upon a time, in a land far far away, I used to have casual pants just like yours. Now, I have casual relationships. They aren't even very comfortable but they're ruling the market, a monopoly of sorts.
The language is different, the word 'love' is mocked on, never say it. Complimenting is flirting, spending time is chasing. Busy is pricey. Sex is scoring. I wonder if they keep a tab to see who's leading. Anyway, fighting for him is too desperate, a synonym is also clingy. What were you thinking? If you think that aww-dorable, romantic gesture you did just like in the movies was special...no, it wasn't. Replace special with crazy.
Prince Charming is not waiting for you in mustard fields or at the airport, or more realistically you don't even meet him through a friend. It's a lot more unromantic than you can imagine. He is on an app, all you have to do is swipe. May be the next upgrade in the digital world will be 'Prince Charming Delivered', free trials, exchanges, returns and all that. From clothes at your doorstep to boys at your doorstep. Can you imagine?
The time lines are different, it's not forever and a day, it's not for eternity... it's only for as long as it's fun which on an average is about 20 minutes? (If you're lucky, of course). It's definitely not a love story, it's a whole new genre.
May be we now live in a world where the stock phrase for book endings will be 'casually ever after!' All I'm trying to say is, it's 2019 and if you are still waiting for pyaar & ikraar to happen under an umbrella on a rainy day, then oh girl... snap out of it.
You're only allowed to fall in love... casually.
Hoping I am every bit wrong.
