Shruti Ganguly is founder of Honto88, a production company who describes themselves as brave film,TV, video and VR that makes you stop, think, look again. Some of their clients include top brands like Women in Hollywood, MTV, Viacom, Sony Music, Nylon and Elle Magazines, Chanel and more!
She has been working behind the scenes for nearly a decade collaborating with the likes of Keanu Reeves, Riz Ahmed, Daniel Radcliffe, Tanya Selvaratnam, and more. She's helped bring awareness to issues from prison reform and violence against women, to AIDS in the South Asian community. She has also launched a number of popular video series, including Vogue’s "73 Questions", and in 2016, she served on President Obama’s ECCO Committee of 25 entertainment industry leaders and chaired the committee’s Asian Caucus.
Shruti says the key to getting these brands (and a president!) to trust her is effective communication. Producers wear a lot of hats. They know how to choose winning projects, put together the right creative team for each project; and coordinate all phases of production from idea to distribution. They would not be able to successfully do their jobs if brands did not relinquish a certain level of control. To release that control, brands need to trust you! If you want to get them to trust you, work on your communication skills and figure out your communication style. In both personal and professional relationships, communication is key.
