Well well well look at this... one year ago I posted my first ever transformation pic. Looking at it now makes me pretty bloody proud. Not for the initial weight loss, but having maintained (or bettered 🤷🏼‍♀️) that physique for a whole year now. I looked for a recent pic to compare to but it seems I’ve been a bit busy to focus on taking ab selfies lately 😂🙊

Something I remember doing each year when I started recovery is taking a picture on the same day each year, in the same clothes as soon as I woke up - as you can see I fell off that train after 2 years 😂 but from 2015 to 2019 there is about a 25kg difference with not a lot of difference visually I feel. Plus I distinctly remember "having" to take the pictures as soon as I woke up so i would look the "thinnest" 👎 where as the 2019 picture was after a big breakfast and about 1L of water in my stomach 😉 plus a look 100x healthier! 
The 2015 photo was taken around a year and a half into recovery so I was still VERY much controlled by rules and rituals that kept me "safe". Physically I had made progress in my recovery but mentally I had made very little. 
I feel SO MUCH happier and healthier within myself then I did three and a half years ago and you know the reason? EDUCATION and time. Educating myself on my own body, how my body responds to different things and through doing my certification I learnt so much about training and how nutrition compliments that also. It's also true what they say, that time heals all.

I can wholeheartedly say that I am the happiest I have EVER been with my body even though it's still a work in progress. But all of those changes will be done in a slow, steady, maintainable and HEALTHY way!

On the program today was 3 x 20 hip thrusts @ 70%.... I knew there was no way I would be able to do that because I struggle to punch these out in the higher rep ranges even with low weight.
So... fuck it... I loaded up the bar to 70kg (my 1RM) and hoped for the best to punch out 3 x 5. I did two sets and felt good so decided to go for max reps in the last set and managed 8 (even though it resulted in all sorts of ugly faces 🙈🙊). I’m pretty bloody proud of this effort 🎉

Now after squats, lunges and hip thrusts I’ll be avoiding stairs until Wednesday ✌️🍑🔥

Save this mindfulness exercise for later! I'm someone who NEVER thought mindfulness worked for me but being able to focus on something physical made all the difference. 
So give this a try if you have felt like it hasn't worked for you in the past because I was you not too long ago 😊

1. Lie on your back with your legs elevated and your knees at 90° (resting them over the arm of a couch works well) 
2. Grab something with a little bit of weight but not too much (a big book will work well) 
3. Place the weighted object on your diaphragm 
4. Breathe in and out of your nose focusing on the book rising and falling 
Aim to practice this each day for 5 to 10 minutes - before bed is a great time because I find it makes me pretty sleepy 😴

So this may not look like much to some but this is HUGE for me!
One of my goals was to be able to do 5 assisted pull ups by the end of this Restart and I am so proud of myself because I think I did it!
They're not all the way up as this was my last set so I was a bit fatigued but they're still pretty good.

My physique hasnt changed alot due to some health issue's but my strength and over all fitness has improved tenfold and that alone is massive.
My body will catch up once I have my surgery so that doesnt concern me.

Two weeks to go everyone! Hope you're all having a great weekend.

How I got peanut butter by my cuticle I will never know 😂 but here's some healthy chocolate full of healthy fats and antioxidants to curb your sweet tooth 😋

For one giant serving (about 7 small chocolates) 
7.5g coconut oil - melted 
13g natural nut butter 
Cacoa and sweetener to taste 
Method: 
Melt the coconut oil 
Stir in the nut butter, cacao and sweetener until a uniform liquid forms 
Pour into silicone molds 
Put in the freezer for 10 minutes until set

Back day is slowly becoming a favourite of mine! Pretty much anything upper body I love!!! Anything lower body not so much 😂but one of my goals this year is to focus on the legs and 🍑 so trying for three leg days a week... But we will see how I go ahah.

Even after almost 4 years @revivecafes is still my absolute favourite food place in the city 😍 Today they had two of my all time  favorites - Isreali Cous Cous and Beetroot and Lentils. My other all time favourites are Moroccan Chickpeas and Thai Satay Noodles. The Revive Raw Salad is pretty good too 
I usually go for the salad bar but the Not Butter Chicken is incredible also 😍

Ain't that the truth! 
In a world where everyone is trying to get ahead, be better than the next, do more in a day it's hard just to give time to yourself but if you run yourself ragged at the end of the day it's only you that is going to suffer. 
This is something I've learnt over the years first hand and now more than ever I'm taking steps to give myself more time. I'm lucky enough to live a life where I can reduce my days where I work but it's still such a scary thing when you're told all your life when you finish school you start working 5 days a week. 
Going against the grain is a scary thing but at the end of the day looking after YOU, your physical and mental health needs be a priority over working because you cant drink from an empty cup.

In a world where everyone is trying to get ahead, be better than the next, do more in a day it's hard just to give time to yourself but if you run yourself ragged at the end of the day it's only you that is going to suffer.
This is something I've learnt over the years first hand and now more than ever I'm taking steps to give myself more time. I'm lucky enough to live a life where I can reduce my days where I work but it's still such a scary thing when you're told all your life when you finish school you start working 5 days a week.
Going against the grain is a scary thing but at the end of the day looking after YOU, your physical and mental health needs be a priority over working because you cant drink from an empty cup.

No formal workout for me today but we are oficially all moved into the new house (swollen ankles and all) with cat fur on my chair but it just needs a vaccume 😉

Weirdly this afternoon I looked down and saw my ankles (especially the left one) was REALLY swollen. There wasn't any pain apart from aching feet from being on my feet for majority of the day. 
I'm on my feet most of the day anyway but the one difference being today I was in flip flops when at work I'm in sneakers with orthitics because I have the worlds FLATTEST feet 😂

I'm hoping the swelling goes down from keeping my feet elevated tonight but if not we'll see if it's actually something more. 
Always remember YOU know your body best, so trust what its telling you. When you're tired - rest, when something is wrong take action whether that's going to the dr straight away or waiting a few days/trying a few different things on your own first.

This may not LOOK like your traditional banofee pie but I can promise you it tastes like it with all so many  health benefits! (Plus its vegan so that's cool too 😋) Single serving protein banofee pie 
Crust: 
5g each melted coconut oil and almond butter 
5g oats 
5g coconut flour 
12.5g vanilla pea protein 
Sweetener of choice to taste 
Water as needed to bind 
Method: 
Preheat oven to 180°C/350°F
Melt coconut oil and stir in almond butter 
Make oats into a flour 
Add in all the other ingredients adding water as needed 
Press into a silicone mini loaf pan 
Bake for 10 to 12  minutes and allow to cool 
Filling:
50g banana 
125g unsweetened almond milk (or milk of choice)
7.5g chia seeds 
12.5g vanilla pea protein 
Cinnamon and sweetener of choice to taste 
Method: 
Place everything in a high speed blender
Blend until smooth making sure to break up all the chia seeds 
Allow to stand for 15 minutes in the fridge 
Pour the filling on top of the cooled base 
Devour 
Topping: 
20g sliced banana (or you can add it into the filling)

Strength comes from within in all senses of the word and right now I haven't felt more strong mentally or physically! 
And I'm not hitting any PRs right now 😂 But stripping things back to basics and REALLY focusing on form is making some big changes. 
Mentally things are going incredibly well too! I've finally got to a point in my life where I can honestly say I can put my mental health first - which being a "automatically say yes then think about what you agreed too later"  person is HUGE for me and I'm reaping the benefits. 
I'm surrounding myself with the people who love me and lift me up, getting rid of the negative, doing the things I love, taking steps to further my future, fuelling my body right and I feel amazing!

Changing rooms and buying clothes used to be something I DREADED all because I was looking at myself in a negative way. 
I kept thinking... "I'm so fat"
"Your arms look horrible"
"Your legs are huge" "You need to lose a heck of a lot of weight" 
Now I LOVE it all because I flipped the script. 
Now I think... "I can see some changes!"
"You're a work in progress"
"Your hard work is paying off" "Clothes sizes fluctuate wildly!" And in actuality yourclothes size means NOTHING about you as a person

A big plus of my jobs (a full time early childhood teacher and part time PT) is how active and hands on they are. This day was a day I was pretty light on steps (I normally do about 15,000+). Having an active job really makes all the difference in keeping you moving throughout the day. 
This is also another "you dont need to spend a lot to be fit" reminder. I feel like these days most feel like you need a Fitbit or some sort of fitness watch to track your steps/calories burnt. My macros were around 1790 (c: 215 / p: 120 / f: 50) as per The Bod calculator’s “Recommended” cut. However, I was still hungry at bedtime, so I may opt for a “Conservative” cut and increase my calories just a little. 🤣 I also find that when I’m hungry, I start looking for snacks, many of which are not overly nutritious. So anyway, here it is:

🍽 LUNCH: The BOD Three Seed Salad (I replaced trout for chicken breast).

🍽 AFTERNOON SNACK: 1 x The BOD brown rice energy ball, 1 Apple.

🍽 DINNER: Beef Stroganoff with mashed potatoes! ☺️

The last 4 weeks have been very mentally tough for me. I’ve been lacking motivation with my food and haven’t been tracking anywhere near as consistently as I should. I’m one of those people who has one little thing that is difficult to track and rather than estimating, I will just write off the rest of the day 🙊

I feel like I’m putting on weight (can’t be sure as my scales need a new battery 🤦‍♀️) so I’ve decided to readjust my macros from maintenance to a cut to try and finish off the challenge strong. I’m committed to the next 4 weeks of eating clean and continuing to train hard. I got a little bit of extra motivation this morning when I hit 2 PB’s in my workout:
▪️Squat - 5 reps @ 56kg (my first set at greater than body weight)
▪️Hip thrust - 8 reps @ 60kg

I’m really looking at the little wins (like a day of perfect eating 🎉) each day and getting to the end of @thebod_ restart feeling positive about my journey, even with a (fairly large) derailment in the middle 🙈

Hello there! Seeing as it was a public holiday here today, I decided to complete Meal Prep Monday! At the start of this round, I used The BOD calculator to determine my macros according to my main goal, which was to build muscle. Today, I recalculated to suit my current goal, which is to maintain/cut slightly. My main reasons for this are A) I will be going away on holiday in 5 weeks time, so I want to be feeling toned and lean, B) I haven’t been able to train my ideal 4-5 sessions per week. I am averaging closer to 3 sessions per week, so I don’t feel I am needing to eat quite as much! I will see how I go over the next few weeks, but if I feel I need more food, I will up my intake a little. This week’s prep will form part of my overall 1790 calorie plan. On the menu:

🍽 BREAKFAST: Porridge with half a banana, a drizzle of honey, chia seeds and cinnamon.

🍽 MID MORNING SNACK: 1 Carmen’s Original Muesli Bar, 1 Nespresso Soy Latte, 1 tub @chobani vanilla yoghurt.

🍽 LUNCH: The BOD Three Seed Salad (I replaced trout for chicken breast).

🍽 AFTERNOON SNACK: 1 x The BOD brown rice energy ball, 1 Apple.

Submitted for Week 8. It’s been a tough few weeks but On the positive side I’m now only 6kg to go off original goal and I’m determined. I’m also happy if it goes further but would love the body to show more definition. Weeks 1, 4 and 8.
Not a huge amount of physical change this Restart due to my Endometriosis & Polycystic ovaries misbehaving terribly and that, 'that time' always syncs up with when its time to submit my pics.
But...I'm still seeing some which is the most important thing. My bums changing, my arms and back slowly and my stamina and endurance is increasing so much!
Mentally, I am stronger. Always loving my body, especially with all its going through at the moment. Battling the endo and polycystic ovaries takes most of my energy and I find myself really lethargic, especially on days when i work 11hrs but my mental strength kicks in and im more often than not able to smash out a session, feeling amazing afterwards.

This last 4 weeks Im really going to focus on my nutrition as thats my biggest issue. The exercising is easy for me as its 'my time' but I find myself getting caught up in being mum or doing things around the house when I should be taking 5 to eat my meals. And for me, when I don't eat enough, I retain.
So thats my aim for this last month!!

Some how lost 200g (totally insignificant) but wow my shape is changing! I've been tough on myself with what I've been seeing in the mirror lately but thats the nature of trying to grow muscle it just doesn't happen overnight. So good to compare these photos and I'm ready to kick butt in the last 4 weeks! Calories are now over 2000 and still increasing. My body is loving the extra calories and I'm gaining strength rapidly. Hit a new DB bench press PB at the start of this week when I couldn't even do 1 rep at that weight 2 weeks ago I can now do 4 reps 🥳 Pull ups/chin ups and push ups are increasing too. When times get tough, going back to your why is what keeps you moving forward and pushing towards your goal.

Pre babies all I wanted was ABS. Did I ever get them? No 😂 After my pregnancy with Blake I lost 22kg (which I had gained) and I finished that loss off with abs 😂 Now 8 months post twins my abs are starting to make a come back again 🙏🏻 My post baby body has been @thebod_ made BOTH times.

Early morning training is done and dusted! Morning training sessions are by far my favourite, but that doesn’t mean I jump out of bed when the alarm goes off! 😂 It’s easy to keep sleeping, but the reality is I always feel so much more accomplished once I’ve moved my body first thing. SO, my top tips for training early are:

1. GET TO BED EARLY! For real though, if you’re not getting 8 hours sleep, prioritise this. Make early nights a habit and I promise the early wake ups will be 1000 times easier.
.
2. Lay out your gym clothes the night before. I mean everything, socks, underwear, even car keys, headphones etc. Literally, everything you need. That way you wake up and don’t have to think about anything but getting ready and grabbing your pile of stuff.
.
3. Have a quick bite to eat. While some people prefer to train on an empty stomach, I simply can’t (hello dizziness). Head to the gym feeling energised and ready to go! 💪🏽👌🏽
