It truly doesn't matter how much money we have, likes or followers we get, clothes and shoes we collect, houses and cars we buy, trips and photos we take, weights we lift, degrees and awards we obtain, and the list goes on. Without a relationship with God it is all vanity. There is no true, lasting joy outside of Jesus.
If you ever read the book of Ecclesiastes then you know what I am talking about when I say "Vanity of vanities. It is all vanity". Solomon starts off the book proclaiming and going into details of how he had gained all these things in his lifetime and that he learned that it was all in vain and had no real purpose. And what he also learned is that the only things that were not in vain and brought him no grief were the things that came from the Lord. The things God blessed him with because of his hardwork and faithfulness.
Friend, you wonder why you see these people who have "everything" commit suicide? It is because while they were yet rich in fading things they were still poor in the one thing that truly matters - a relationship with God. I like to believe that there is a cross-shaped void inside of everyone of us. Some people try to suppress the need of Christ and fill the void with drugs, alcohol, sex, gambling, greed, attention, etc. But all those things are temporary pleasures. Even I used to think that when I had more of this or more of that, *then* I'd be truly happy. But it was all a lie, even when I got what I wanted the happiness faded in time. Only in Jesus did I find true joy. A joy that no man or devil can steal. So, dear, if you want true joy and you have yet to give your life completely to Christ, get serious about your walk with God and see what happens.
Jesus plus nothing still equals everything. ♡
