Let's talk hormones 🤔😱😷 I am of the 5-10% of the population that suffers from PCOS, or Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. I was first diagnosed in high school during an ovarian ultrasound. In short, it is a hormone disorder that causes enlarged gonads and cysts to form, along with other cute symptoms like abnormal hair growth and weight gain. Stress and other external factors would cause me to rupture cysts, causing painful episodes.
4.5 years ago I decided to take initiative in my reproductive health and get the Nexplanon implant to assuage the cysts. This birth control implant releases a synthetic progesterone and has been amazing in reducing my symptoms.
April of 2019 meant it was time to replace the old one and insert a new one. As you can see, my doctor had to do a little digging, but I am all good now with a little scar! While I LOVE this birth control, anytime you interfere with your hormones, you can expect weight changes. This is also why my body carries excess fat around my lower belly, specifically over my ovary region.
Just like I did before, I will have to work extra hard to lower my body fat percentage before this extra "pooch" disappears. If you've gained weight due to hormonal changes, you are not alone! It's natural and just a part of life. ♀️♀️♀️ #hormones #nexplanon #weightgain #weightloss #changes #fitness #gymlife #transformation #vsco #vscocam #vscogrid #vscofilm
