Years ago I followed a set schedule of days I workout, days I rest, and de load weeks every couple of months. This is how I planned my workouts for 7 years.

One day, I realized how counterintuitive this is.

There were some days I go to the gym and I feel horrible. I only went because it was a gym day.

There were some days I felt amazing but I didn’t workout. I didn’t because it was a rest day.
.
Why am I at the gym when I feel like death?
.
Why am I resting when I am full of energy?
.
Your energy is impossible to put on a calendar and plan out. Scheduling gym and rest day is not working with how you body feels. You are forcing your body to do/not do something because it’s Tuesday or it’s Saturday.
.
When you begin to listen your body and not a calendar, it will schedule rest days for you. It will let you know when you should really push it in the gym or when you should scale back.
